OR

Since the word Subbuteo is derived from the Latin word for a type of falcon (The Hobby), both of your options are actually wrong because the actual pronunciation is SUB-BEW-T-O.

You can see proof of this on the original packaging for early version of the game

Sub bew tee oh .. it was originallygoing to he called "hobby" football .. but someone had already used the name. So they named it after the latin name of the hobby falcon.
