Mrs Live has been going on at me for a while now to get a sleeve. She finds them really sexy and I think they look great when done properly but am I now too old to start having tattoos at the age of 35?

Don't write yourself off as too old at 35 for goodness fake.

Tattoos are terrible and only obtained by boring people with poor imagination and no artistic temperament

Just what will they look like when they are old!

They should be ashamed of themselves

Hate them.... It's a big no for us

Carry on

I have just turned 50 and loving it. Had two very artistic tattoos done a few months ago, one on ankle and one on lower back, to cover scars. They are brill and very feminine. Age is only a number.... but I must be having a mid life crisis cos I got my nose pierced as well lol

Go for it !

Not too old, but if your OH is trying to convice you just because she likes them then 'Meh'.

Good tattoos are awesome. 95% of the tattoos I see are trash and there seems to be a fad around the moment about them.

Only get one if you know what you want and actually want it yourself. I'd love a few but don't think they'd suit me so won't bother.

Btw OP

I see you are in Cov..... We have been to most studios there

IMHO the best by a mile is Grizzlys Art...

The guy that'd did a couple of mine and one of Ls sleeve has won awards for his work and quite rightly too

I've have had comments from one of those tv tat studios in the USA on my work when we were over there....

So advice is don't go on price, go on recommendations an look at their previous work

Oh, and stay away from the flash boards and tribal if you can lol

You should get one because you want one, not because someone else wants you to.

You're definitely not too old though.

This comment is completely without foundation, and utterly wrong. Some of the most artistic and creative people on the planet are covered in tattoos. What are you talking about?!

Ashamed of ourselves? Why should I be ashamed? It's my body and if I choose to cover myself in tattoos that's my personal choice - be less judgemental. Tattooing is an ancient art - it's only because you're bound by the rules of modern society that say it's wrong to be yourself. Free yourself. Let people be themselves.

What will we look like when we're old?? See below.

So many bad ones out there and so funny when you look up the miss spelt ones on Google too! Why do people get "Bitch" tattooed on their neck? (That was fun trying to stop a small person trying to read it out loud in the que at mcdonalds!) And why have the names of your children written on you? I love the images and art work but really don't understand tatooed words or phrases.

All this about wanting tattoos,I wish I had never got my done, when I think about it I was a bloody fool to pay someone to scar my body for life.If I had the money would get them removed.Oh yes I was 14 an a half when I had them done an now 62 so have had time to reflect. But hey its your bodies so you do what you think is right for you an not because someone want you to.

When im old, doubly-incontinent and at the mercy of social care, unable to feed myself and cant afford to stay warm I think it's unlikely I'll be thinking, God I regret my tattoos.

Most of mine are 20 years old, not regretted it for a second.

I also think that things seem to have changed a lot.... Re the guy above who had work done years ago

Back then it was more, I dunno, underground

Done by bikers for bikers etc... You know what I mean...prison tats etc

Today tattooing is done by artists and inks are way better

It's probably one of the best ways for an artist to earn a living...way better than painting on canvas

Our guys charge £60/hr and you have to book well in advance to get in.... Some places charge way more.... Seen 150USD in Vegas for example

Any decent artist should be a 40% tax payer without any difficulty
