I don't have a "head voice" I don't hear what I read so no I don't imagine what the poster will sound like either. Interesting.

That's because you don't subvocalise.

It's a cracking skill to have. I've tried to learn how to do it. But it's hard changing the habits of a lifetime.

Yeah subvocalising is saying the words you read in your head.

The alternative is scanning the line for key words and using your imagination to fill in the blanks. This is the skill associated with speed reading.

The majority of people sub vocalise. Some scan instead. The scanners read faster than subvocalisers.

I don't know what Joey Essex sounds like. I am only vaguely aware he is a TOWIE person because of something on the forum last year.

You don't have an Essex twang to your voice.

You synesthetes are supposed to be concept people, good at ideas as you are able to sense the world in such multifaceted ways.

When you read books and there is a convo, do you imagine what their voices would be like?

Actually I do. Gollum, for instance, always sounded Welsh when I read The Hobbit (just imagine 'what has he got in his pockets' in a Welsh sibilant voice and that's pretty much what I heard). I was disappointed they gave him a different voice in the movies.

The spelling affects the sensation of the word but if I only heard it instead of reading it it doesn't. So Kelly to me is like a dark blue ink blot but Kelli is a pink circle. If I see a person before I know their name I associate them with a different sensation to their name

My 'head voice' doesn't really have an accent.

Mind you - neither do I really. But if I could choose one it would be a Morgan Freeman/James Earl Jones style voice.

I thought we all had head voices - trying to workout how you can read without your voice reading it to you.

If there is something particular about a person, like where they come from or how they dress then I'll do a voice to match; so, a welsh accent (if from Wales) or a posh accent (if there picture shows them in a ball gown or something similar).

Cellerbrate the voices in your head (unless they are nutty - in which case, see a doctor)
