waxing vs epilator?

Jump to newest

Im thinking of buying the wet and dry silk epil as I can cope with ripping hairs out by waxing so should find epilating easy?

I did have a epliator years ago which was painful but that was before waxing and im hoping epilators have improved since then

Any advice? X

They have got considerably better than they used to be.....but it still hurts like fuck, but you get used to it.

The one you talk about is about the best....its all about technique too though. I really rate it, and its saved me a small fortune.xx

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I find my legs easy and painless. Underarms hurt a little but it's bearable, especially if done regularly.

I stick with waxing for my genital area. I can tolerate a Hollywood with an epilator but waxing is significantly less painful.

Another vote for the silk epil wet/dry - it's excellent. Hurts like the devil the first few times but you really do get used to it.

Pop a couple of paracetamol a few hours before you start the first few times till you get used to it.

Also, I find the wet/dry bit really handy - it hurts less in the bath for me. Maybe because the pores are open?

Cons:

Takes longer than waxing

Hurts (so does waxing)

Pro's:

Saves money (in the long run)

Don't have to let grow so long between sessions (BIG plus)

Don't have to leave your house/can do at a convenient time for you.

So 3 good reviews,thank you

Its on offer on amazon at the moment so I think ill go for it

One question,im blonde and would say I have mildy sensitive skin, waxing leaves a little inflammation for a day or so before my skin settles down perfectly,is this the same for epilating in your experience,I want to time it right for holidays

Yeah it will be red and a little inflamed....my friend is the same colouring as you and she uses it a couple of days before going away...and uses a light moisturiser like "Simple" the day after.

Think I might brave having my back and bum epilated. But I'll need to find someone willing to spend a day doing it.

Perhaps Diamond's idea of a lawnmower may still be the most practical

Wellingborough

Go for broke and purchase a laser for home use.

Not as stingy as an epilator, much more expensive but they work, perfectly.

It was a different league of pain when I tried it on my pubes, compared to other bits, but I'm a wimpy bloke, I was also using a fairly old epilator

North Bristol

Pop a couple of painkillers an hour or so before - it really helps.

Sadly, I'm now having to go back to waxing for a while since I can neither see, nor reach most of my body below the waist
