Not strictly true it's an unfortunate side effect of trying to breed from a limited gene pool they weren't trying to breed a tiger with downs.

Just like downs in humans is not due to inbreeding it's just an unfortunate outcome when certain genetics combine but with inbreeding the chances are higher.

The tiger does not have Down's syndrome but it has been inbred and suffers from physical and mental deformities because of that. The Down's syndrome story started because of the way it looks.

I have a cat that as an outcome of interbreeding... ( mum & dad were brother and sister ) is impaired in a few ways...

So no I don't find this funny at all!!

How anyone can find disabilities in others, human or animal, is beyond me

I suppose it does.

Don't get me wrong, the story of Kenny the tiger is a sad one. I posted a thread saying as such when I first read about him but I think calling for a thread to be closed is a tad over the top.

People laugh at inappropriate things all the time. People's obsession with things outside of the perceived 'norm' is at an all time high what with youtube and things going viral these days. People think we have moved on from the victorian freak shows but the reality it we've just made them digital.

My teenager found it no encouragement needed was her that brought it to my attention I was merely showing how a teenagers mind worked x it wasn't a thread that was meant to offend it was just posted out off curiosity like many other posts I have found in here x but ppl have a way of turning something innocently posted into something sinister and bad which I no is just human

I understand you were curious, I find random topics like this interesting and google such, as I'm into science and how things work. The angel face (that a previous poster suggested that the OP posted a face of entertainment) suggested to me, innocence on this topic.

I google lots of things because I'm curious, because someone has mentioned it to me (teenagers, parents, friend, whatever), not because I'm sick.

We are all entitled to an opinion...

However being a parent with a child who has SEN, I find it rather distasteful.

I'm sure as the OP later stated,she didn't mean it to offend, however as there are a few out there that are affected by downs and other genetic disorders I for one read it in an offensive way.

As you state, the second comment did not help...I'll put that down to immaturity
