3 of us went to Frankie & Bennies last night for a meal. We all had starters, mains and desserts with drinks (I had 3) and the others had coffees afterwards. £106 ouch! The food was lovely though

Cheeseville, Somerset

The last few times we've been to F&B's we've ended up with all or most of the meal for free!!

Down to the service being shite, the staff making stupid errors, the food taking an age and generally being a pretty crap experience.

Still - there's nothing like a free fry up on a Sunday after a trip to a club with friends.

*and it helps if you take Ruby as she's great at complaining!!

The one in Wisbech has only just opened so not sure if that makes a difference, but both the food and service were really good.

They don't do peas. I had fish and chips in there and asked for peas , they said it's an italian restaurant and Italians don't have peas. I then asked for a limoncello and they had no idea what I was on about. Italian restaurant my arse.

"There's a Frankie and Bennies at Brighton Marina. I've never been and don't intend to. Now I know what FAB stands for though. "

Scott 'Frankie and Benny's, Virgil'.

Thanks for this thread, it's reminded me that I need to write a letter of complaint about the F&B restaurant in Bristol; the food was awful, excepting the baked potato, and the kitchen was littered with food waste and napkins, so bad that surreptitious photographs were taken.

I suspect that the potato was satisfactory as, in retrospect, it was probably a commercial 5 minutes in the microwave and couldn't be majorly f*cked up by the 'chef'.

Takeley

Mixed results, think it depends on the restaurant, staff ( if they have enough ) and how busy they are ( refer to the previous point ). Foods not that expensive, bit formulaic, however, have had 1 wonderful meal, 2 at airports ( Luton and East Midlands ), nice enough and 2 at the restaurant in Cheltenham, both times, awful service, food cold, had to get my own condiments and the food took an eternity to get to me. Would I go again, maybe, if the restaurant wasn't packed....although that isn't a good sign too!

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

3 x three courses plus drinks for just over a hundred quid is cheap.

The food is mass produced, cheap rubbish, but they obviously do it well, as the one near us is packed all the time.

We always have breakfast at the one at Birmingham airport or Manchester airport when we are flying out, not the best breakfast, but better than the one on the flight!

I do pay high rates appropriately for great food. I dont rate this so called restaurant as something akin to fine dining. It is the chain eatery equivalent of mcdonalds, with table service. Id choose to eat at weatherspoons for £6 steak and drink, if at a chain on a tuesday. I will keep my cash back for gourmet meals.

Maybe at a restaurant but not at a fast food chain !

The food is pretty much frozen plastic, and the drinks overpriced .... You're better off going to a Wetherspoons

At least the beer is cheap

Nowadays you can get many vouchers which should bring the price down
