"As in...what was your first ever wage?. Mine was the grand sum of £9 per week as a 15 year old first year apprentice printer in the 70's. Used to get it on a Friday in cash in a little brown envelope. Surprising how far that £9 went in them old days " £2.00 a day teaching riding at weekends, then £14.65 a week as a groom in Yorkshire for the summer hols, back in the 70's, with 50p plus tips for one evening a week in the 'Dog & Duck' pulling pints!!

"£2.85 an hour, washing pots and pans in a local hotel. used to work after college and weekends, to try and help out so my parents didnt have to pay for me to carry on in ejukayshun. this is the reason why it annoys me that some people wont do jobs they deem 'beneath' them" £15 a day summer job at the head office of Spar as a 15 year old. Had to give £30 to Mum, taught me a thing or 2. Then worked in a kitchen during 6th form as well as a gardener, used to get about £35 a day of which I had to give £15 to Mum. And then first proper job got about £700 a month and had to give £250 to Mum! There are plenty of jobs out there if people are willing to do them.

"It's not necessarily about a job being 'beneath you'. If you've studied or trained for something specific that you really want to do then you feel like you want to put all your energy into pursuing that. It's scary how quickly you stop having the energy to job hunt for what you really want once you're in full time employment and come home tired everyday." If you really want it you will find the energy. I gave up work after a couple of years having earned enough to get me through unviversity to get the career I really wanted. There was plenty of sacrifice but I got there in the end.

"I was 13 and worked evenings and weekends at my local supermarket. I was paid monthly and my first wage in 1987 was £55. I gave half to mum and with the rest bought bras, thus an obsession began. I felt like a millionaire." Why would you want to cover up your beautiful beasts like that?
