cloned dog

So some British chick won a competition to have her dog cloned in South Korea. It worked. British company looking to sell the service in UK for 60k per dog. Anyone interested? I can't wait for the human version to be available.

Clones of my 2 dogs would be a catastrophe.

And as far as I know (for some reason), human cloning is illegal.

Yeah at moment. But it must of been done and in future, maybe it won't be illegal. I can see lots of benefits to it.

Therapeutic cloning is different. Stem cell research etc trying to save and better lives.

Aside this, cloning me (for example) would have no serious benefits.

Heard about that an hour ago. Not as technical as what I thought it would be.

Its illegal as in order to get the perfect clone. They have to clone the mind. Not only can't they do that as it's far to technical and complicated as our mind is too complex, but there's the moral view behind cloning humans too as a lot of religions belief it's not right.

Nurture as well as nature make creatures, be they humans, dogs or something else, what they are.

Other than for medical and health reasons, cloning is largely pointless because of that.

It's not possible to duplicate the learning and experiences of a person or animal so although a clone will be physically identical, otherwise they may be very different.

This. I'm going to try and keep off my soap box and leave it at this, 68,000 staffing alone are euthanased every yr. 1 breed.

It was a Korean company wanting to promote their service over here. It was horrible. The poor donor dogs being operated on time and time again, first to take their eggs, then to implant their embryos and then to take the cloned puppy out. I have no idea why the birth couldn't be done naturally.

I doubt that any company would get the go ahead to operate over here as it was akin to a puppy farm in my eyes.

Also I fail to see the purpose of cloning a dog? They might be genetically identical but even on the show they had cloned 2 maltese terriers and their temperaments were very different.

Leave nature alone stop messing with it x some woman in America has a cloning clinic and says she's already cloning humans x humans are supposed to b unique it's not right

Firstly a dog from rescue is not giving them a chance at life for nothing......the minimum donation required to adopt a rescue dog is usually well over £100.

Secondly, not everyone is accepted to adopt a rescue dog. I applied to the retired greyhound trust and was turned down because I lived in a private rented house. Was told that I was only acceptable if I owned my house or was in social housing as private renting is not a stable home environment.

I had my lovely lurcher from an animal sanctuary and it cost me nothing. I gave a donation but that was my own choice. I had him for 14 years.

There's plenty of rescue dogs to go round

I personally would not pay such a rediculous amount of money for a dog!

How much do people pay for a pup? And then, if your a decent responsible owner, now much does neutering, microchipping, vaccinating etc cost?

Rescue a dog, pay £100-130 towards the above costs, with out having to find the rest of the cash, and the trips to the vets are done for you!! That dog has a 2nd chance that it deserves, but also so does the dog who gets the kennel space In the rescue centre. Instead of staying in the pound for 7-14 days, then being pts!!
