is there a simple way to work out ratios? i've googled and googled and i'm just getting more and more beffudled by the minute

if there s no simple formula to it then not to worry there will be no ratios in this damn assignement cause i sure as hell can't work out what any of the ones i've googled mean

Yes there is!!

Add up the ratio to work out how many parts there are altogether, for example 3:5 would be 8 parts altogether.

Then divide your total number by that amount. So say you had 40 cakes to share in the ratio 3:5 you would divide 40 by 8. That would tell you what one part is, so in this example it would be 5 cakes. Then you can work out what 3 parts are by multiplying (15) and 5 (25). Its always good to check they add up to the initial amount, 15+25=40, so we know we are right!

Does that help?

"think we might need the full question"

I've put in a request for it! Because ratio is what I explained. Whilst my explanation was basic, that is the format of how to solve ratio!

"Oh dear lord, my brains hurting! Mathssssss, I failed to get into uni sooo many times through bloody mathssss!!!! I hate it, I just cannot get my head around it! Mean, mode, blah blah blah!!! "

mean - the cruel and 'mean' option, total all the numbers up and divide by how many figues there are

mode - which number appears MOst is the MOde

medium - the 'middle' numerical order and which is the middle number, if there isnt one take the sum of the two numbers in the middle and divide by 2
