So the other thread has me thinking.

Lets say I am off to somewhere like I dunno Edinburgh or somewhere for two weeks on a course with work.

It seems the general concensus is that a bloke in a hotel room and his messages would be ignored and meets refused?

This is just hypothetically me thinking out loud. So rather than sit in the hotel room bored or out in the hotel bar drinking with those from the work place on the course with you, whats the best approach for gtting a meet either socially or for sex?

Somehow I have the feeling there is going to be some sarcasm lol

I think if you know you are to be there on a set date the best is to put a meet up in the events, do a search of the area and write to people who take your fancy.

Putting a forum post up speaks 'shag anything' to me, others will _iew it differently

we've met people who are down here on holiday for a social, it's fun and we all get to make new friends. We like to know a person a bit before we play so always make it clear that it will be social only

It's the last minute nature of it that gets my back up, and I suspect a lot of ladies, the kind of 'shag anything' feel to that approach. It's nice to feel someone wants to meet ME, not just get laid.

To my mind contacting people before is fine - search the area, get talking to those who catch your eye, change the postcode on your profile so you get their local updates etc. I did that once, someone saw my pic pop up and contacted me, we got chatting, and it was my best ever meet.

I meet people coming up here for work, the difference being, they have contacted me in advance and have got to know each other first.

The one's that just say 'in hotel now' can just piss off as that just reeks of lack of respect for me!

One of the best meets I ever had was with a woman using a hotel while she was on a business trip. It was a last minute thing but we had exchanged several messages beforehand

Pre-Planning is the key. I've met in hotels before now, but I knew before that evening that a meet was on the cards. A lot of guys seem to forget that for a woman to get ready for a meet it's a lot more involved that a quick wash of the balls! And yes you guys may say you aren't bothered about us getting tarted up, but I tend to only shave my legs when I have a meet planned in colder months...plus it's about how attractive we feel. I'd feel really self conscious if I had stubbly legs or greasy hair for a meet so I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of it then. For these reasons a message at 10pm on a Weds night to come for a meet in central Manchester (for example) when I have work the next day is a bit of a no go whereas if I know about the meet beforehand I can start to get ready when I get in from work and be there for 10pm rather than starting to get ready at 10pm...simple things but it's just a bit of courtesy really.

Im with most of the others on this one. Prior notice and interaction works, even if youre possibly not going to be long term fbs. Any fancy a fuck message, whether from locals or visitors, tend to be of low priority for me to address quickly. I travel, so understand how it is to need some action.

Most of my meets are with guys here on business and staying in hotels. But as everyone else has said, they put the ground work in before hand.

I won't meet strangers at the drop of a hat. The guys who get in touch 3 or 4 weeks before hand and make the effort to try to get to know me will usually succeed in at least a social meet.
