Has anyone else noticed the standard of spelling on this site ? Bloody hell. Just read a profile where the couple spelt similar as "simula".

Poor spelling provides amusing opportunities for witty replies

You could have asked them for a meat.

I'm anal about spelling and grammar but the odd typo or spelling mistake doesn't put me off (much)...it's the messages/profiles with no punctuation or those that are totally indecipherable that I'm likely to give up on.

**carefully checks post for errors... I'm only just out of therapy after misplacing an apostrophe in a "Kiss, Fuck or Smack with a wet kipper" post in 2012

Spelling used to bother me I'm ashamed to say. But I've met lots of lovely people and bad spelling didn't make them a horrible person!!

I'm happy to say it's one of the things I've learned from being on here. Bad spelling means nothing. It's the words/ intent and person that matters.

Many people blame their phone and I concur that trying to type a literate message with fat fingers on tiny keys is a challenge. But they could at least tread it back before they send? I often get messages that are complete gobbledygook, can't make head nor tail of what they're trying to say. On replying "pardon?", often the follow up will be even worse. I have got to say though, the worst perpetrators of murdering the English language tend to be the under thirties, maybe because they are more likely to be using a phone to type?

i cringe at really bad spelling and text speak is just he ultimate in lazy arse effort. if you can't add two letters to U to make YOU then for me you're too lazy to make an effort in the bedroom :P ok strong jump and it just puts me off people a bit, even more so older people who didn't grow up with phones and texting. they really should know better

i find on here though i'd rather deal with a bit of bad grammar than someone who's profile is just a massive list of i don't do this, this, this this ,this this, oh and if you message you must this this this this this that the other and then before pressing send set fire to your balls whlst videoing it then send it over, then AND only then will you maybe get a reply. Oh and i only meet on the third Wednesday of the fifth month of the Jewish calendar, between 1:35pm and 1:37pm. if you don't fit this then jog on.

yeah give me a bit of bad spelling and grammar over that shite any day

"Pedants aren't sexy."

I disagree ... I know a very sexy pedant ... but he can spell, and so can I !!!

I have to concur though with someone further up ... I am generally put off by bad spelling and grammar, but have to say I have regular interchanges with a delightful chappy who is actually dyslexic ... so it is perhaps wise to look at the person beyond the original message !!!

I think correlating effort with profile writing to effort in the bedroom is bollocks sorry.

I know a guy whose profile says virtually nothing.

In fact it says, 'not much to say really' plus he can't spell for shit and punctuation is an afterthought.

He's one of the funniest men I've ever met and he is a brilliant conversationalist, very bright and a considerate fuck.

Not everyone expresses themselves well in writing.

He's not on here either, just thought I'd mention that!

I don't mind bad spelling as long as I can understand it.

I find people that can spell, but write a complete load of mumbo jumbo, because they can't be arsed to read it back, more irritating.

All joking aside if you meet a person who makes your toes curl with pleasure when they kiss or touch you would it really make a difference if they use meat instead of meet, or there instead of their? Honestly if there is a connection with someone then let's all be happy and have good times together

Technology has a lot to answer for, predictive text has made us all lazy and the younger generation suffer as from the cradle they are given iPads to play with rather than good old paper and pencils to practice their writing skills

simple poor spelling isnt really a put off.

laziness is, though.

if they havent shown that they have even tried, then no, as laziness IS transferable, rather than just bad spelling/grammar.
