Help!!

So I sold my first thing on eBay 2 weeks ago, the guy paid immediately, I sent off baby Oleg and got a good feedback... But 13 days later, my funds have still not been released! How long does it take for money to be released, is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Do that.

And also contact Paypal too, that's not sarcasm, I mean actually call them and 9/10 they'll release your account..

personally, i just leave it in paypal as they charge you to transfer it into real money.

only time i get money from paypal is when i get refunded (happening a hell of a lot just lately)

It is because your a new seller they can hold your funds up until 21 days from the the sell or delivery date but I can't remember which the only way the get this lifted from your PayPal is to sell more items and be active selling for 90 days I hope this helps

NEVER do that^^^

I once sold a car and left £3K sat in there, they froze it for 3 months.

NEVER EVER leave money in Paypal, they have a habit of locking accounts randomly.

My paypal is set up using my bank card not my bank account.. so if i want the money to go from payal to my bank i have to make a transfer

I can't recall, but if you log onto PayPal it should tell you an estimated date you can expect funds to be paid out?

Maybe the previous comments are right, 21 days rings a bell! Many queries just give them an email / call?

tbf i have never had that amount of money in there anyway, and definitey wouldnt be selling a car using paypal, strictly cash for that lol.

usually a lot less than £100, so no hardship.

and i use ebay a hell of a lot

Thanks everyone, I will work out how to contact them and ask them when they will release the funds. Its really pissing annoying, the buyer has had their thing for almost two weeks and I've paid for the delivery and I want my money lol!!

They've been on watchdog several times for dubious practices. The web has thousands of accounts of crappy behaviour on the part of PayPal.

I'm sure that there is a seller policy on eBay that means funds are held for a certain time in case of dispute or refund. Can't for the life of me remember how long it is though.

Sounds ominous.

I have only used them once and it ended up in a dispute about something I had bought from Ebay ( first time using Ebay too ), which went in my favour and I got my money back....but....and this might sound odd as it was in my favour...but they asked for no evidence of my dispute and just made the person pay me back about 7 days later....which doesn't seem fair at all to the seller.

Yeah disputes can be interesting

I had someone kicking up a right fuss over something she'd paid 99p for! She was complaining that something was missing even though it was obvious the packet was still sealed from the manufacturer.

As a private seller there is no obligation for returns or refunds. After a long explanation about how only so much of the product was visible through the packaging and how if she opened it she'd probably see that it was complete. Then I reminded her it was still sealed and I had no control over errors in packing by the manufacturer. I then offered her a full refund including postage and the additional cost of returning the item which I would only pay when I received it and all the packaging.

Funnily enough she never responded and though I had to wait the funds were eventually released - she either hadn't opened it so was convinced it was not complete or was trying it on but wanted to keep it and get her money back.

I guess it's because I'm a regular seller/buyer that I've no problems. As soon as I've been paid I can withdraw and if I've no funds in my PayPal account they just debit my bank account via DDI.

It's key to get your account verified (much like on here! lol) and linked to your address/bank details to speed things up!

I've just spoken to PayPal, and I'd not marked the thing as dispatched (as I'm crap and new at eBaying things!) The lady talked me through it and then because she could see that the buyer had left me positive feedback 10 days ago she released the funds immediately for me!

What a helpful person I spoke to!

I haven't had any problems with paypal and I keep a nominal amount in there. I wouldn't sell on ebay though as I've hard stories and read reports of dubious buyers claiming unlawful refunds

Its because your a new seller. If they leave positive feedback you can receive a few days later but usually you will need to wait between 28-45 days for paypal to release funds. They do this due to new sellers tend to mis-describe correctly or fail to list defects. This unfortunately will be the case for the first four months of selling or longer if you only sell one item a month. It derived me potty when I first started selling. But there's nothing you can do about it. Paypal are Google and they are a law to there own. Fucking hate them but sell on ebay to survive so stuck.

It's gone to their fraud investigation team. I'm not holding out much hope to be honest. Got stung for a couple of bounced direct debits because of it and mum and dad helped me out a bit. Spoken to a couple of other people who

Said they never got it back and some that did so who knows?

They're useless at letting me know what's going on and whenever you ring you're kept on hold for at least 30 mins and it's a free phone number so I have to ring from my mums house it's a right pain in the arse!!

Yeah you'd think that a random personal payment of nearly 200 quid from me to some American addy which I reported as fake within hours wouldn't take too much to organise would you!!

I found their fraud team to be excellent when I had £100 mysteriously paid out to someone I'd never heard of. They took about 4-weeks but gave me regular updates.

I'm past waiting for it to come back now, if it does then that's a bonus but I'm not holding my breath!
