do you keep your mobile on at all times?

We were suprised to find out that our children keep their mobiles on and at the bedside even at night. Maybe this is a generational thing, but neither Mrs J nor myself would do that as we see being at the beck and call of others an optional activity.

What do others think?

Always on. Unless in an important meeting or cinema/theatre. Then it's on silent.

Turn it off when I go to bed, unless I'm using it while I'm away as an alarm.

Totally agree. Was on radio 5, saying how people struggle to get to sleep at night, because of it. How many of us who wake up at night, first thing they do is look at their phone? Not me. Saw two teenagers at a restaurant texting, whilst talking to each other, whilst eating, without making eye contact....or I know people who text each other when their in the same room....mobile phones are great progress, however, wonder at the expense of social interaction.

It's always on...in case family want to get hold of me...if someone I don't want to speak to at the time phones etc I won't answer it and it's constantly on silent...I'm a bit weird I don't like ring tones lol

I think the only time either of our phones are switched off is if the battery is dead.

We're not addicted to them or anything loopy like that but wouldn't want to miss an important call in the night.

Mine is always on. I switch it to silent if I'm in a meeting at work. I don't always answer, depends who it is and what I'm doing.

Always on but then so is my house phone, never occurred to me to turn it ofc but then I don't call or text others after what I think is an acceptable time (around 9) although this has got later these days used to be 8 as I don't like to intrude on people's down time but have found most see evenings as a time for social contact

lol !we turn our phones off,we like to focus on the people we are meeting lol !without the distraction of that "bloody phone going off haha !" also no telly on either except for maybe "porn "on in the background hehee !!! xx

Always on. At night it's on silent and dimmed as low as it will go. I use it as a clock, through the night.

Not at all I know a lot do but I like to disconnect at times and relax and you can't do that with your phone on.

Mine is turned off when I am at work but on all other times. I use mine as my alarm clock so needs to be on but I rarely check it if I wake in the night as I know it will not help me get back to sleep.

I switch mine off at bedtime. If anything is that important they will come round my house. Most things can wait til morning. I have never had anyone call me in the middle of the night about anything in all my life. Things can usually wait till morning.

Mine is mostly on but I use the do not disturb function for when I'm sleeping. Only my parents, children or Mrs P can contact me.

I turn it off for cinema, theatre , church and other things.

If Mrs P and myself are out for a social evening we will only bring one phone with us.

I turn mine off when going to bed and recharge.....my neices never ever is switched off and complains when someone rings her at 2 am....so i says..."turn it off" and she says "noooooooooo" ...wtf
