When was the last time anyone had to send a cheque?

Earlier today I called the CIS to see about making a lump sum contribution thingy to my pension. The lovely lady on the other end told me that it was fine, chuck, but could I post a cheque to them with my plan number on the back. I did tell her I was waving my bank card in front of the telephone and if that wasn't any use, I am on paypal, but no a cheque it is. No wonder they are a bit in the doldrums. I'm surprised it wasn't a postal order countersigned by the parish priest or something.

The last cheque I wrote was in 2007, prior to this. When and for what was your last cheque?

A peck on the cheek for anyone who can work the Czech Legion into this.

We only accept cash or cheques here, none of that credit card bullshit.

The bank charges us about 50p each cheque I think. We have them daily more than BACS payments.

Not sure what confuses me more ?

That a financial organisation in 2014 can only accept cheques

OR

That you wish to give your precious very hard earned money to said financial group to look after noting they arealso highly profiled in the media as shall we say struggling lol ?

My mam doesn't have a bank account so occasionally she'll ask me to pay by cheque for something she's buying out of one of those tat mags that fall out of The Sun...about the only other time is when I cover my colleague's franchise as I did last week - I bank the fees then pay her by cheque as she doesn't do online banking

Hmm, you just made me go and look at my cheque book. The last stub was from 2006 and was for a deposit to take a pedalo out to sea in Ibiza!

We probably use 30 a year they were talking about stopping them but they are useful for posting or gifting money.

I'm similar in that cheques don't really get used by me - and I did find my dusty old cheque book the other day. Last cheques were paid to the French Foreign Legion, and a smaller amount to the Czech Legion, for services rendered to help the world.

CIS going titz up?
