Have you ever been struck dumb by a comment then spent the rest of the day trying to work out what witty burn you should have said?

Just been to the local budgets to get my lunch when an old man shouts behind me 'leave some for me!'

I turn round and do a slightly confused laugh but the longer I am in the shop the more pissed off I got! Maybe I should start shouting 'dont die in there!' to old people??

Left him wandering round all day wondering what you just said, unless he speaks Italian.

I had one guy walk past me before I lost weight and said to his mates 'She would be sexy as hell if she lost weight' I let it upset me but the realised that rude nasty arseholes like that aren't worth a response or a second of my time. I may be fat but at least I'm not a cunt.

Old guy you say ? Old enough to be infirm and not of sound mind ?

My grandad was eccentric and said inappropriate things but that was because of his mental state .

Not sure old people are targets for this kind of retribution If Im honest but hey fill yer boots

I was in a bar the other week and had a woman (50+) say "omg you look about 12 how old are you? Seriously u look 12"

I was to nice and didn't say anything back regarding how old she looked but like you it wound me up for rest of the night

On Sunday, a waiter asked me if I wanted to upgrade to a full rack of ribs I said no, he asked again if I was sure, cue my "just because I'm fat doesn't mean I have to have the bigger portion" comment. He blushed, everyone laughed and I genuinely felt that I had done good with my rebuttal.

He wasn't eccentric he was rude. Whether he thought he was being rude or just making a light hearted joke I don't know.

While it pissed me off at the time and I wished I'd have had a witty retort back to him I'm over it now. It's just an amusing anecdote to share.

I wasn't aware fossils need to be fed.

My mum often makes rude comments about how people look, (only when they can't hear her), when we're out and I really hate it. I often tell her not to do it.

Today I was driving her somewhere and a young woman crossed the road in front if us. She was wearing shiny leggings. Mum immediately commented on how awful she looked. Now ok, they weren't the best choice of clothes for her shape and build but she didn't look dreadful. So I pointed out to mum that I wear leggings sometimes and she said yes, but yours aren't cheap and shiny looking.

Why bother to open your mouth just to insult a total stranger who has done nothing to deserve it? I don't get it. It makes me very uncomfortable and I wish she'd stop. She rarely says anything complimentary in the same way.

I'm sure her and my gran being so obsessed with being slim and being so crirical about how others look has done dreadful things to my self-image and self-esteem.

Rise above it. x Easier said than done, I know. I think I'm 90% immune to abuse like that, for various reasons.

I'm crap at thinking of funny answers, I just smile at them and say nothing. It pisses them off that they don't get an annoyed reaction.
