In the pub last night got chatting to two Lithuanian girls when out in the smoking area. I asked them if they were worried about Russia, they said that their country was basically in panic about the large Russian force on the border and they thought an invasion was more than possible. People were leaving the country in fear!

Here is what I found interesting, they believed that the hoohaar over the Asian plane loss was being used to cover up the whole war situation. I asked them why would the media cover up a cure fire paper seller? Simple they said, stock markets drop like a stone at the mention of war!!!!

Do you think that could be possible?

kinky heaven

Not too sure whether to call in Russian aggression, depends which paper you read, however the media manipulate the news all the time and they have total control what they want you to know

Titz Towers, North Notts

I don't think many countries would want the Russians as neighbours.

Lithuania has had a bit of a bad 100 years. When the USSR took over, they shot a lot of people and sent many to the gulag as counter-revolutionaries, when the Germans marched in, they shot a lot of people as Bolsheviks and encouraged the locals to massacre the Jews. When the USSR re-invaded they shot a lot of people as collaborators and found space in Siberia for many of the rest.

A lot of people say living in Blighty is boring, but I think a lot can be said for boredom.

The excuses Putin uses are the very same as used by Hitler and his Nazi party. The world reaction is not dissimilar at this time. This is the greatest threat to world peace since the Cuban missiles crisis.

The problem for Putin is he has painted himself into a corner with his "defence of Russian speakers". I sincerely hope the rest of the Russian government can damp him down because, unlike 1939, we now have nuclear missiles and he is arrogant and aggressive enough to push it too far.

I thought stock markets soared at the mention of war.
