I have a problem with child benefit, they are nothing to do with me so why should my taxes subsidise them?

"The amount of narrow minded, selfish people in this world never ceases to amaze me."

You could make a claim for most people to be selfish depending how you look in it. from those who have hoarding to those who claim not working to everyone over here not giving to the poor in war torn countries the facts are man achieved dominance through being selfish however that doesn't make it right.

My girls have never been without work fortunately..but then they aren't too fussy about what they do as long as they are working. Very proud of both of them.

I do have an issue when people are putting in fraudulent claims.

A family friend once was claiming numerous benefits stating she was a single parent when she had her employed bf living with her

Both had new cars went abroad twice a year. Had her nails done and sun beds

I didn't hesitate to report her.

I am one of those "benefit scroungers" as u call them, I worked when I left school never out of work until I had kids, now I am looking for work, in the last 2 weeks I have applied to 6 jobs n not one reply, luckily I have a 2 week contract next week which hopefully end up full time. I want to be in full time work, earning my own money to buy my kids things, take them out, go out myself.

This thread also needs an "I'm better than you because I have a job/car/flash car/house/big house/mansion/castle/holiday home abroad/several holiday homes abroad/3 holidays a year/more holidays than yow/etc" thread to complement it.

Bragging about being thin/having a large cock and slagging of the less than physically perfect should be optional too.

That's always been the myth regarding pensions, but it's not true. To get a state pension you must have paid or been credited with National Insurance contributions. Many people also have private pension plans.

Actually, the biggest drain on social funding is state pensions, but no one bangs on in the media about the drain they put on resources because we can't fund the old people we have now, never mind the future.

So let's shift the focus onto the billion quid in illegal benefit claims, because no one wants to talk about how we pay for our retirement......

There was a story run in the national papers about a bloke who gave up work so he could drink whisky all the time, when he went to the benfits office he inform the person therr he was too angry to work so he wanted to spend his days drinking to keep calm.

Now part of me feels sorry for him, part of me is annoyed that he has given up work to be an alcoholic and we are paying for it.

I was very happy when the Daily Mail ran those stories on Ed Miliband and Harriet Harman to be honest, was great fun watching the Labour party trying to squirm their way out of those stories, lol.

You shouldn't receive child benefit if you are an high earner. A benefit is a safety net for those who are genuinely in need. £50k cap is reasonable.

It's an absolute scandal the amount of money they get for their children. No need to worry about bankers bonuses or millionaires and huge corporations evading tax.

Child benefit is the one to worry about.

Most of the programmes and media coverage are meant to sensationalise and cause outrage. That way sells more papers. more _iewers.

Personally i have met as many arrogant unlikeable wonkers who are in full time work as people who arent.

Instead of watching such drivel go put some music on. currently instead of watching pap about job snatchers i am now listening to some fantastic tracy chapman from the 80s.

Just around the corner

It seems everyone hates benefit 'scroungers' until they find themselves out of work and having to live on fresh air.

There will always be a (relative) few who manage to live a subsidised high life, but most don't. And perhaps the hard questions should be directed towards whoever says 'yes' to the excesses.
