Best suggestion?

A club on a single guys night.

This answered my question. But another question if anyone can help. Is it best to meet them socially first as I would prefer this but think some might think it's a bit stupid

Not stupid at all. If you want to meet socially first then absolutely do that. Any potential partners should respect your wishes.

Personally, I have no expectations on a first meeting even if it's not a social. It's not until you actually meet someone that you know whether or not it's going to work, especially if it's a threesome.
