House smells of poo

I have been taking in Forster dogs for a few years now . I was rung last Monday and asked if as an emergency I would take 6 lab puppy's they are 10 weeks old . I don't normally take puppy's as not a big poo fan . But as it was emergency I took them . Now I clean up every time they poo or pee but my house is starting to smell . I have them here till next wed . Any advice about the smell x

my friend whos a vet nurse swears by a product called MisterMax Anti-Icky Poo (yes seriously ) you can get it online

yes this works ,,n grt on u 4 fostering them ,,I also do foster work 4 dogs ,,u can also put down deoderise puppy sheets ,training pads ,,well done ,

This works.

As does putting bicarb in your mopping water to neutralize the smell of pee. You can add a little to their drinking water to help with this but I'm not sure the amounts for a puppy.

Thing is I think it gets into the air and doesn't matter how much you clean...I use an air purifier to combat animal odours....

Clean the area as normal then sprinkle with baking soda it will absorb the smell once dry Hoover off then clean off any residue with a damp cloth with a bit of zoflora on it x

Your right as I was talking today and 5 have there homes to go to but one was still on the adoption list . I just rung and told them I would like to keep her x looks like I will be cleaning poo for a long time yet lol . Any tips on house training will now be good , I have only ever had older dogs before

Labradors are pretty good at house training - my lab x gsp is 2 now but we rarely had accidents. I used puppy pads and the deodoriser from Pets at Home. I also used a cage for night-times. I got a cage big enough for him as an adult, put his puppy bed at one end and puppy pads at the other - mess is not all over the place and they won't mess in their bed.

I let him out often and every time he pee'd or poo'd outside I said "Good Boy" and used a word (any word will do as long as you always use it). Now if I'm going to be leaving him in while I go to the shop I take him outside and use that word and he knows to pee.

My worst time with him as a youngster was when he got to be a puppy teenager! He tried to be the boss and independent, ignoring his training etc. I stayed strong and I'm the boss, he settled back to being a good dog lol. That was wayyy more difficult than house-training.

As I said in a previous post Aries to clean up but after they wake,eat or play take them outside ( whatever you do don't carry them make them walk ) and lots of praise if they go do their business outside, if they do have accidents in the house try to stop them and get them outside if it's too late just ignore and clean it up no point shouting at a pup who doesn't understand hope this helps and good luck

First of all your're an angel for taking in these dog!Secondly as someone else has aready stated,a small amount of washing powder diluted in warm water does the trick of removing any smell!

I can't message you. But how I got in to it was on Facebook . If there is a breed of dog your most interested in have a look for a rescuer page for that type of dog . Then message them xx

I will be crate training mine . Take her out last thing at night walk till she poos then in the crate x

I'm guessing that she's punishing you for leaving her, even though it's night-time. It won't matter how long or when you take her out she'll probably still do it. It's a confidence thing which she will probably grow out of. I had the same problem with a rescue dog I had. I wore an old jumper for a couple of days then put it in his bed. He also had an old teddy to cuddle (he ripped two apart before he cuddled up to one!!).

The other options are to put her bed in your bedroom and let her sleep there.

If that doesn't suit, try a cage as for puppy training. Big enough for a bed in one side and a couple of puppypads in the other side. It keeps the mess in one place, saves the carpets and is much easier to clean up. A cage also works as a "safe haven" - my dog goes into his when he wants some peace and quiet. Its never been used as a punishment, it's his happy place.

I don't know how a person can live in such discussing environments. I mean seriously, your house smells of sh*t. Get rid of the animals

ps. you dont want to use bleaches as it'll break their pads.

you dont want to really use anything smelly as they will only put their scent back over the top of it.

There is a solution you can make using non bio washing powder that takes the smell out and doesnt do them any harm, but it's a very long while since I made it - and it could have been biological powder too lol

lots of newspaper will help soak the most of it up

My dog was easy to train was going outside in less than a week

The only thing is he does poos in the house when he is in a huff with me !

Be careful with puppy pads some pups like to chew them which can obviously make it worse if they've done the business on it beforehand, another tip I remembered never ever ever use a pine fragrance it just reinforces the smell for the dog
