Serious post here...

Recently a few new neighbours have moved in on the street and are constantly playing football on the road. The ball has been kicked against houses, windows and cars. It is starting to annoy alot of the residents.

The ball has come over to my property on three occasions and I have given it back. However, this time around I have chosen to keep it and told them to get their parents to collect it from me.

Has anyone ever had trouble with noisy neighbours and nuisance behaviour..? Any advice on what to do?

I have been told to complain to the local council and housing association/private landlords.

Should the police be contacted for anti-social behaviour?

Some of you may think I am being drastic and would say let the kids be. But, it is my mothers house who is quite elderly and lives alone. There is a local park literally 2 minute walk from the road with plenty of grass and astro turf football cages.

I hope someone could give me some advice on how to best deal with this situation.

Great Wyrley

Kids will be kids. They will always want to play.

if you have those facilities nearby though andfrom what you say they are so close, there is no need for them to play ball where they do.

Speak you your local community support officer as ot will be them that need to visit regularly and move the kids on to the recreation areas.

I've had problem neighbours a long time ago. Not had issues with playing football though. If there are a few neighbours that think the same - maybe each talk to the parents of the kids involved. Difficult one too as it depends on the age of the kids - if they're youngish their parents may not want them going over the park.

The PCO might have a chat if you can speak to them. They generally have their own patch. Yes the Housing association can too - but very difficult to enforce .

The main agro I witness amongst neighbours is parking cars - thank god it's ok where I live !

Where does the noise come into it? I would fall out with constantly noisy neighbours but not with kids playing football on the street. I would prefer to engage with them and ask them to be careful near the cars and windows. If the only inconvenience caused to date has been giving them their ball back three times then I think getting the authorities involved is overkill.

Thanks for the advice guys. I fully understand that some of you may feel I am going over the top.

However, a football being kicked against your wall does create a lot of noise!! I also understand that the parents do not want there kids going to the park alone however I believe it would be much safer than playing in the road where they may be hit by vehicles.

Furthermore, the family are new to the country and there is a slight language barrier. Also, it is not just the ball games that are a problem. They have left sofas, a fridge and beds outside on the road.
