Blackburn/Preston

I have a snacks and two dinners! Never called it tea, hardly ever have breakfast cos I'm too lazy to be waking up any earlier than I have to...so my lunch is my dinner, my tea is my dinner and snacks are just snacks! Or sometimes it's all just grub! All this talk about grub is making me hungry...off to make myself some dinner!

I eat all day.

It takes a lot of energy to keep a body my size going.

Lunch : noun, a midday meal

Dinner: noun, the main meal of the day served in the evening

Tea: noun, a light mid afternoon meal of teas sandwiches or cakes.

Can't argue with that.

Titz Towers, North Notts

This reminds me of when I was passing through Gloucestershire last year. I stopped off for a meal at a pub.

The conversation went like this.

Me, for it is I, in a broad Northern accent, 'Are tha doing any snap, lass?'

Barmaid, for she was a maid of the bar, 'Beg your pardon?'

Me, speaking more slowly, 'Does tha do tea, me duck?'

Barmaid, with the sort of look on her face that many people get when dealing with customers who should really get their carer to go to the bar, 'We do offer hot drinks.'

Me, beginning to wish I'd made more sarnies, 'Nay, lass, do tha have any food going?'

Her, 'Ah, dinner? Yes, take a seat and I'll fetch a menu for you.'

The moral of the story, we may be on a small island, but we don't all speak the same language. I never did get to find out if she had got a brand new combine harvester, either

Earl Grey is more than just a mere beverage.

For the nine to five workers when you have your break at about midday is it a lunch break or dinner break, or when you have a short break for a beverage is it a tea break ?

If dinner is the middle meal and you only have a sandwich or a light snack on your break do you consider a sandwich to be your dinner ?

Central

Looks like it is settled then. Breakfast, dinner, tea and maybe supper later. Any and all amounts of snacks interspersed copiously, as and when required. Those venturing south go all queer and mix up their evening meal with proper dinners.
