What movie endings do people enjoy and why?

I really enjoy the final scene of The Good, the bad and the ugly.

The cinematography is superlative. The way the camera switches from person to person, gathering speed to the music and what a score! The music is fantastic and really build the scene up, right to the point where they draw.

That's enough waxing lyrical for the day from me.

Battle Royale!

For the fact it has several endings layered one on top of the other.

The death of the villain, the inevitable death of the underdog hero and the uncertain future of Nanahara and Noriko.

The music is beautiful and the epilogue is poignant despite the fact your lead characters are doomed to a life on the run as criminals, despite having escaped a nightmare of being forced to murder each other in the name of survival.

Hunger Games can eat my pubes!

I like a proper ending. I want to KNOW what happens and not have to imagine what may have been. Or is that terribly old fashioned , fab film buffs ?

It's a Wonderful Life - it's a proper ending & always makes me cry !

Shawshank Redemption - Morgan Freeman is a legend ! And that's one of my all time fave films anyway !

Excalibur needs a mention. The music is by Wagner and it is Siegfried's funeral march, which isn't to everyone's taste, but it certainly matches the mood and tone. It's a surprisingly bloodthirsty film considering its' age. When people get impaled by something sharp and pointy it looks like it comes keen. The cast is amazing. Mirren, Nicol Williamson (those two hated each other in life and it shows on screen, which adds), Addie, Gabriel Byrne, Neeson and Patrick Stewart

I like that Darabont plays hardball. The way he was kicked off his own show, The Walking Dead, proved that it makes him look like a dick, but he does it because he believes in what he does so passionately. I still like the Walkin Dead but it lagged for two and a half seasons without him.

The way the Mist ends is just so sick, but in the way horror films need to take notice of. There are bad endings, unhappy endings and shock endings. The Mist draws parallels!
