Never had any problem with Ryanair despite flying with them very regularly: being very tall, it's a bit hard to find leg rooms, but it is more or less the same anywhere...

Just enjoy the flight and the fact it cost you the same price as a taxi ride

we've flown with Ryanair a few times, mostly to France. We never encountered a problem althou were surprised to see the pilot get off carrying a duffel bag...I don't know why it surprised us though

Dont exceed your baggage allowances

Dont exceed your case size or weight for carry on

Dont be late

Prepare to be treated like cattle at milking time

I actually dont mind Ryanair or Easyjet. Always make sure I am within their requirements and never had any issues.

Wouldn't fancy more than a couple of hours on a flight with them tho

Enjoy your hols !

Flew with them last year for the first time to Tenerife. Never again!

Took 17kg case out plus hand luggage, no problem.

Brought same luggage back, case weighed 1.5kg more, charged 60 euro. Asked why, seems my allowance was only 15kg??? (No charge on way out). Then tried to charge me 60 euro for my hand luggage. Argued the toss with that one, same bag, no extra weight.

Also paid £15 each way for seats with extra leg room. Way out had great seats, way back, normal seats. Asked to be moved without success.

Not happy.

Did email my complaint. No reply!!!

Easyjets carry on allowance is lower than Ryanairs. Size wise at least. No weight limit though.

The overall experience is preferable tho.

Thomson flights are like cattle trucks. Despite the fact that I'm 5ft 1 we always pay for extra leg room on Thomson teh seats are so tiny.

Before choosing an airline and specifically a seat (if pre-booking) look at a site called seat guru. They give tips on seats to avoid for restricted access, restricted views, seats that don't recline etc..

Went to Barcelona and although both mine and the ex's combined luggage was underweight, the check in staff made us transfer some stuff from her suitcase to mine thus holding everyone else up

all joking aside Ryanair is cool but they are very strict on hand luggage weight if your 10.1 kg they willmake you reduce it to 10kg of charge you extra.

I don't get where people get that Ryanair planes are small / tiny.

The operate a single aircraft type - Boeing 737-800 - which are fitted out to seat 189 people.

Easyjet operate 3 Airbus types, but the majority of the flert are A319 variants which only seat 156 !

The operate a single aircraft type - Boeing 737-800 - which are fitted out to seat 189 people.

Easyjet operate 3 Airbus types, but the majority of the flert are A319 variants which only seat 156 !

guess it could be like the bus/coach industry.... a 12m coach is just comfortable as a 53 seater (without toilet) but some operators bunch the seats up a bit and fit an extra seat on either side to make a 57 seater.

could they be doing similar??

If you buy anything at the airport be sure that it will fit into your hand luggage. And if you have a handbag, be sure that fits into your hand luggage too.

They can be really arsey about hand luggage and really do, often, just allow one item. They won't even allow a carrier bag with a drink and a sandwich in unless you can put it in your hand luggage (and still fit the bag or case in their measuring thingy).

I really dislike Ryanair. The hardsell of scratch cards...the cramped seating and If you don't pay and book seats its a free for all to get seated.

Last year I didn't get to sit with my young son. It was awful as he was nervous about flying and I couldn't do anything to comfort him being half the length of the plane away from him.

We flew with Ryanair last year said we would not fly with them again, it was like a free for all people trying to get seats together, they don't open gate till last min then it's a rush trying to get everyone seated before take off there were rows of seats at front of plane and middle of empty, we were told it was to even out the weight of the plane, there were reserved seats at back that were empty.

I do believe now they allocate seats now tho, not sure if it's true x

the weight allowance thing is nonsense to me ...you could have a 100 kilo fella put a 10 kilo bag on the plane free of charge but if a 50 kilo woman put a 30 kilo bag on the plane she would have to pay for the additional weight ??

We've just checked in for a flight on sat and now £80 lighter for 'allocated seating'. That's not clear at time of booking. We've kids and really have to sit together, appealing though having someone else sit with them is, and that's just taken our flights up to a grand. Budget airline?

Every time we fly we say never again. This is the straw.

We discovered that we could have.... after we returned from the holiday. Lol! For a charge..

We have only ever flown with Monarch and never had to prebook. We have always got given seats together at check in. We didn't know any different to be honest. We do now...lol!

Some of the information on here is out of date.

You can now take a handbag as well as carry on luggage.

They now also allocate seating so no need to pay for priority seating.

Also our personal opinion is that while you do get what you pay for Ryanair are good value for money!

My hubby always struggles with legroom but it is certainly no worse on Ryanair.

No they now allocate seats when you check in online at no charge, you can check in up to 15 days prior to departure as far as I remember but all info on their website.

Be prepared to ask to sit back and 'chillax', drink alcohol from bags, have scratch cards shoved in your face, and the best bit, a tad ah tune played over the intercom if you land on time. All perfectly bearable for 20 quid though

You are now allowed one shopping bag alongside your hand luggage. Size of shopping bag is not specified though but it has to be items bought at the airport.

Went to dublin this weekend and from start to finish not a problem whatso ever. checked in online...sailed thrugh security....and boarded flight quickly. same on the return. cabin crew great. leg room was fine ...there again im only 5'3.

wld def use again in the future.

no.. not just you...

a few years ago for the champions league final when arsenal were in paris we stayed the night before in brussels...

some of us went by eurostar... some went by ferry to oostend and local train... and some went by ryanair to "brussels south"... which ended up being Charleroi about 50km away and a crappy old bus to take them in.....

Yes, but for a price...x

Not true. Seats are allocated when you check in online. There is no extra cost. Admittedly they omit to tell you this so some people still go ahead and pay to book seats for fear of not sitting with there children.

I checked in online last Wednesday for a flight to cork on Thursday returning Saturday. There was four of us traveling. No charge and we were all sat together. This has been the case for my last three flights.

Nope. We just checked in an hour ago and it's £10 a head now, each way. There's no free for all anymore. You either pay for allocated seating or you sit where's left. Hits families obviously.

You are paying for priority boarding which let's you on the plane first.

Everyone else will have a seat allocated on check in at no charge.

No they now allocate seats when you check in online at no charge, you can check in up to 15 days prior to departure as far as I remember but all info on their website.

Ah brilliant! When we booked for our Easter holiday they gave the option to pay for seats. We aren't going with the kids this time so don't mind so much. It was just that one time when I saw how upset my son was. We will make sure we do it online this time. Thanks for the pointer.

I fly Ryanair all around europe, 99.9% of people that have problems have only themselves to blame for not reading the terms..

Return flights from cork to La Rochelle for 7 of us... less than 600 quid..

1 return with Aer lingus 314 quid !!

I'm 6'2" and never have problems with room, never payed for allocated seating, and alway get an aisle seat, but then it helps to be a little early at the boarding gate, and not running up sweating 30secs before the gate closes lol...

most Airlines charge pretty much the same for snacks unles you are on BA..

Ryanair are single handedly responsible for bringing the cost of Air travel down to where it is now, and everyone else copied, they also have the youngest, and safetest fleet out there..

If you check in online together you will more than likely sit together. We have never had a problem since they have started allocating seats. Four of us travel and we've never been separated . If you are worried check in as soon as it opens. We travel with Ryanair about four times a year and have never encountered any problems.

In all honesty they are ok no frills operator and if you watch the addons cheap they try and lump addons but if you are canny they will be fine just do the online boarding card check in and watch your baggage weights. After all they will get you here in good order and the staff are nice. Think of aldi for the air.

Play by the airlines rules and its a great airline

Just booked manchester to brussels

£31 inc taxes each return seat allocated for free it's costing us more to get a taxi to the airport than the return flights

Two friends due to fly back into Stansted, were diverted to Liverpool and Newcastle respectively and told to find their own way home. I choose to pay a little more and fly less to avoid them!

If you don't book early and are flying during peak times ie: school holidays, you may be just as well off flying with one of the major carriers

If there isn't a lot of difference in price we go with the major carrier

Re price, check ba.com, they give you price comparison with all the charges levied by the lcc, such as Ryanair

read the rules and they are a great airline. Dont read the rules.......then prepare to get shafted! Ryanair make lots of money from people who cant or wont read the terms and conditions

I've flown with Ryanair hundreds of times, mostly to Ireland & back so short flights. They mostly got me there and back pretty much on time and didn't kill me once. It's not too bad. Unless the plane develops a fault just as you're about to land at Manchester so returns to Dublin, then they put you on another plane a few hours later which has to divert to Birmingham, leave you on the runway for hours then bus you up to manchester to arrive 12 hours after you leave Dublin. But that doesn't happen too often lol

the people setting up the gate dont announce for everyone to push and shove their way to the front of the queue, people choose to do this when they see the gate being set up.

when i can get a flight to see the woman i love, in a different country, for the same price as it would cost to drive to birmingham and back, then i will not bag them at all.

once took me 10 hours to get from my front door, to V's in dublin, but thats only cuz the snow was down, and someone crashed a light plane at dublin airport (probably a woman pilot lol)
