Cheeseville, Somerset

Been doing a lot of digging over the last few days getting ready to re turf the lawn.

The soil is 99% clay which is a bitch - but as it had rained yesterday afternoon and as such it had changed from being hard as rock to soft and squishy I spent a couple of hours forking it ready to add some sharp sand.

Perfect timing. Fox pops out to check on progress just as I managed to impale a sleepy frog. I hadn't noticed. So there I am sweaty and cursing with a dead amphibian on my tool.

So sorry Mr (or Mrs!) frog.

It was nothing personal - and definitely nothing at all to do with your rugby team failing to beat the Irish last month!

The guilt has nearly passed but needed to confess my sins.

Anyone else bumped off one of Gods creatures recently?

A

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I didn't realise what an outdoorsy gardening guy you had hidden there. A pond and now getting ready to turf. The decking done last year too. But you're a brute with it. Poor froggy.

I ate a lot of meat on Saturday so I have secondhand blood on my hands.

in the night garden

Bro the frogs knew the dangers when they went peepies in the garden. I've strimmed a few frog limbs in my time whilst grass cutting.

There's no good beating yourself up about it.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I have dispatched many a small creature from rabbits and ploecats to birds and reptiles that were too injured to save...

Better to get it done and end the suffering

If the local cat ever catches a bird and leaves it dying in our garden I will go out and wring its neck. Brutal, but puts it out of its misery.

Really try not to kill anything if I can help it, unless it's going to sting my son.

We had a dog that would catch and kill anything in the garden, good as gold away from it but god help anything that strayed into her territory

You should have invited Bambi round, she'd have barbecued it for you!

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I accidentally squashed a small spider on Saturday because I thought it was an ant.

This morning I have let two wasps out of the house rather than killing them like I normally do. I don't know why. I wish I'd squished the vicious buggers.
