Or should you read and ignore the message?

Block is the easiest way and saves any further awkward conversation

A block is not a rude thing it's just a way of filtering people we are not interested in

Just be polite and say they're not for you, most people appreciate the honesty and are adult enough to know we won't appeal to everyone

But then again some take rejection very badly in which case the block button comes in handy

If they messages asking for a meet just say sorry, not interested. I have a few locals that are not what I'm looking for but just chat now and again.

You should do what suits you best and let others do the same.

You may not understand why someone does something but that doesn't mean they don't have a reason or that what they do is unreasonable or wrong. Nobody has any responsibility to justify how they manage their time here and their account.

If you've spoken to them a few times & you know they're keen then I would say something

Simply asking opinions

NO ONE IS TRYING TO JUSTIFY. How anyone manages their profile gosh lol

If I wasn't interested like that, I would tell them straight away and I have done.

I would expect anyone else to tell me straight away too.

It just saves aggro and time with ping-pong messages.

If they have made an effort, I.e. not "Hi how r u" then we tell them what we think, politely. No effort = no reply.

always reply to someone that has sent you a message if they put effort into it. its the polite thing to do

I talk to people as though they were right in front of me.. you never know if you really going to meet them or not one day

Manners cost nothing unfortunately though some people just take it personally which doesn't stop me always being polite then blocking where needed

Ok question for those of you that say manners cost nothing.

If you get a message that says love your pics you look great want to chat , you reply with ah but you haven't read my profile ( your profile is hidden with only a couple of pics up). They reply with I've read your veris though what would you do.

Bearing in mind hypothetical but in a roundabout way some of what I have had would you still reply with a thanks but no thanks because to me they are the ones that are being not only rude but lying.

I think if you have spoken a few times the only emotionally mature, respectful and kind thing to do is to say 'Sorry but I don't think we'd click after all' or something similar. Just because we can block without a word does not make it right in such circumstances IMO.

On the other hand if someone sends an inappropriate first message or is not what the profile specifies anyway, I think it entirely proper to just delete.

Recently had 2 rejections from a couple of ladies, the first one just blocked me, while the second did have the common decency to say she wasn't meeting new people, guess which one I think the most of?
