Wrong hotel ... ?

At the NE Social last weekend we and few others were staying at the Premier Inn on the A1231 in Sunderland ... but we, and at least 2 others, were unaware that there are two on that same road only about a mile & half apart ...

We planned to meet a couple on Friday in the bar; we'd chat before and agreed "yes, the one on the A1231; meet in the bar at 8pm" .. but when they phoned to say "we're stood at the bar" so were we - but then realised; ah, they must be at the wrong hotel ..

Then on Saturday before the social a potentially more embarassing situation was luckily avoided by friends of ours when they went straight up to the room of some other friends in our hotel, banged on the door but no one was in - even though at the other end of the phone came the reply "well no one is knocking on our door"

Is it just these 2 hotels of the same chain that are so close that peeps get confused - or have you had similar experiences??

It could have been worse. We could have mistaken Sunderland for Southend At least we were only a mile out.

We had a similar thing in London, there is 2 Travelodge's in Covent Garden, We had given our room number out to a guy we'd arranged to meet and had added to the text that tb was all dressed up and waiting.

A short while later he phoned us in stitches as he had knocked on the door to be greeted by an elderly woman minus her teeth!!

Had a great afternoon once we had all sropped laughing
