Mine used to cross out Father's Day and put my name on the card - then again their real dad was a total waste of space

Uncomfortable if the mother/father is still around.

Probably still uncomfortable if they are not as if the child has nbecome so attached so quickly it could make it harder should the relationship break up.

Personally I would speak to the parent as they shouldn't have let that situation arise really.

This brings back a few memories. When our boys were young they were in the cubs and we went on a weekend away on a "lads and dads" weekend.

A little lad asked if I'd be his dad for the weekend because he didn't have one

It bought a tear to my eye

Oh, didn't see the how long bit but actually my point still stands.

When we were growing up our parents had different partners but we never treated them like our parents in terms of mothers day or father's day.

My exes children bought me fathers day cards... Their father lived 15 miles away...

If I'd been living with them and doing the "family" thing and was affectively the father figure of the house I'd be honoured by it, however if it was a casual I stayed there occasionally type of relationship then I'd find it slightly odd

I just asked out of general curiosity.. its a sign of modern times that relationships split and new ones form.

As a mum id be miffed but i know im the real one and wont be replaced.. if i recieved a card that a child innocently made id think it was sweet. If it was bought by the other half id feel uncomfortable perhaps

I would not like my daughter to do it, she has one mother and there is no replacement. Not one for all these days myself, I prefer yo show my love 365 not just one day.

A friend's child gave a shop bought card to her husband - not the child's biological father. He wrote in it that anyone man can be a father but not all of them could be a dad.

Mothering Sunday is a church festival and I was always very touched that those children I had an influence on I knew from the church would give me a posy too.

I got a card from mr S kids today that had happy step mothers day on it .it was so touching and a txt fron their mother saying happy mothers day . But then iv been with mr S for ten years
