Great Wyrley

Toasted cinnamen and raisen bagels with strawberry jam for breakfast and fresh brewed hot coffee.

now here is the dilemma.

I have some nice stewing steak. Do I pop it in the casserole pot and get it cooking up for later or.....

do I get a bit of breast of lamb out the freezer to defrost, make a cheese onion and potato pie with some roasted carrot, parsnip and swede??

I'd go for the steak. Purely because it's lambing season and I couldn't bear to eat any while I can see the little darlings prancing around the files without a care in the world.

I'd do the stewing steak. Like Legs I can't eat lamb when I can see them prancing round the fields!

Not to sure about egg custard though - reminds me of school dinners!

I have cake. Three kinds. And cookies.

And being a rural girl who used to go to the farm round the corner to help bottle feed the lambs that I knew would end up in our freezer, I'm not sentimental about the circle of life. I'm also aware that 'spring' lamb is actually autumn or even Christmas lamb.

Slow roast shoulder of lamb with celeriac gratin, mashed carrot and parsnip and spring greens at my house.
