Brighton - even Hove!

What do you do to avoid negativity? Or feeling a bit low or blue or in the doldrums or thinking 'what if?'

Please don't say: 'sing "always look on the bright side of life" as I mean things like paint or read or go for a walk or do something active or make lists or bake or build stuff or drive....Something that drives the 'feeling sorry for yourself' feeling away.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I was hoping this was a list of Marvel Heroes who didn't make the final cut.

I'm immune to bad vibes, but then I'm constantly looking for chances to get a bit of mirth into the world. The may be a link. Or perhaps I'm that annoying arse who is always cracking a joke when you really just want them to fuck off, because they are depressing you....

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Shagging helps. If I don't have a man to hand though, I cook.

I think you have to roll with it to be honest, yes you can do things to distract yourself but I just let it wash over me and it goes naturally....we all feel that way at times.

I sit it out and tell myself it will go away. It's usually because I haven't taken my medication properly so I take one and wait it out. Sunshine and walks don't make a difference to me as it's a chemical problem

I didn't mean this to be a depressing thread, quite the opposite in a way. I'm actually a very cheerful and positive person most of the time. Another thread got me thinking about negativity and the way I visualize it is as a sneaky insidious character called Captain Bad Vibe.

I ( Paul) play wars of the worlds to make my day brighter, or when I'm doing a chore I really hate , if that counts

Funny you should say that as (if you check da messages) I've been encouraging A to give you more and more and more household chores to do.

I try to see the positive in everything, no matter how bad it is. My own positivity does my head in sometimes. It's all good though.

A good shag with a good friend. Failing that strum the geetar, eat something, go for a run, listen music, watch a couple of good films back to back. Options are many and varied.

I'll often go for a long drive , soothes me somehow with my music going.

Or go out on my road bike, head down & by the time I'm back , I've usually blown the bad vibes away !

Maybe we should have Captain Underpants as our superhero!

Go for a good gallop across the downs! Or Dance like a dervish for hours - physicality does usually get some endorphins or some dopamine rolling around the veins.....

Or listen to Led Zeppelin very loud in a car with the windows rolled down in a country lane in the sunshine! That'll do it in a 'fuck 'em all' kinda way!!

I have learned to cut negativity out of my life as much as possible. I don't allow others to drag me down with them.

It is not perfect but I try my best.

A long walk in Ashdown Forest, singing (sorry), music, laughter. Sometimes though you just have to allow a bit of negativity to balance the positivity.

Sadly I am unavoidably in contact with some very negative energy in my professional life and protecting oneself from that can be a difficult task.

After being the inspiration behind this my new way to deal with it is too look at how lucky I actually am (sounds soppy I know) but it's true, we're very fortunate to have some of the luxuries we do. I hope I don't inspire another bad vibed chat lmao x

You're right and also being happy with what you have rather than wanting what other people have got.

I sing, but not 'always look on the bright side of life' I think I'd get more depressed!

In the past when i've suffered a serious depression lasting months, I challenged myself to do things which put me outside my comfort zone. Singing was one of them. 6 years later I sing in a band and have done for the last 2 years.
