Presumably it's not auto-launching so open windows explorer and see if it's actually recognising that there's a disk in the drive.

If it is seeing it go into the contents and there should be a setup.exe that you can run to start it.

Or you might be able to right click the disk name and get it to run the auto launch option.

I feel as thought the Norton on the wireless on Saturday morning could do with an update, as it always seems to be the same show.

Simple answer don't use Norton lol clogs up your registry and slows your machine down , microsoft security essentials is free and dies a much better job

Norton is a complete hog for your computer's resources... I've no doubt that you may find your computer to be slower than you expected it to be...

Try Comodo Internet Security - the free version is actually better than most of the paid-for software... And it's dead easy to set up... And I've used it for years and it beats the living crap out if norton

What you should be doing is putting mcaffee on it, throw the norton disc in the bin!!!

Never ever had a problem with mcaffee and my machines have all run sweet as for years, used norton once and it buggered up the machine completely

Whatever you choose to do, steer clear of Norton, AVG and Norton. Oh wait, did I say that twice? x

I can second MSE. I've been to the deepest, darkest corners of the internet and never caught anything.

Microsoft security essentials is designed to sit and work with Windows , it doesn't hog system resources and does the job well with little or no fuss

Norton , McAfee , avg all hog the registry and use a lot of system resources and should be avoided

Lol they are virtually identical and both as bad as each other. I don't know the security essentials package Jamie is recommending but would go with that as a free package. Has the money behind it to make it work.

I use AVG and everyone will rate their choice as the best. Only PC World rates norton because they can sell it for big profit.

As for someone to sort it for you depends on how far fairy land is from Bristol quite willing to help but within reason.

My laptop came with Norton already installed - I deleted it straight away. Pain in the arse. Hate the bloody thing. I use AVG.

I fucked Norton off lately. Last year I paid about £30, this year they wanted £65. Fuck that. Went online for the latest free antivirus software. Times are hard, like. Got AVG for free but there's a comprehensive package for less than £30

"I wanna update my norton on lap top so I put disk in

In answer to your question if you really want to run Norton on your computer, if the disc is in the disc drive and not running automatically, go to the charms bar if on windows 8, then select settings. From the settings page select control panel, and then find your disc drive from within the control panel. Once you get into the disc page, there should be an option for you to manually click to start the disc running, something like...."Autorun.exe" or something along those lines. Double click on that to start running the disc. Hope that helps?

If you can't find "disc drive" page on control panel, try looking in "Computer" or "devices" and it may be there?

I only ever had Norton once and never used it again, found it to be a load of crap, Not keen on McAfee either, best internet security that suits my laptop is Kaspersky, never had a problem with it, no slow down and runs smoothly.
