The sorting office go on postcode and house number.

The post man goes on address and number.

It depends how much or booze they had the night before

.

It doesn't make sense that the item was returned. That would only happen if someone who received the item writes 'not at this address' or 'gone away' on it.

Well it's not going to get better when they cull 1500 staff later this year.

Still, that's what you get when you make an entity focus on profit not service.

notts

well we have a mailbox on the gate to save the postman a bit of a walk (about 15 yards) taken it down now to make the lazy bastard walk as we missed some xmas and birthday presents all because he kept pulling up in his van, leant out the van window to post a card saying no one in when we were.

we even saw him doing it on more than one occasion and it was a 20 mile round trip to collect from the sorting office.

wouldnt mind so much but the feckin cards he posted had already been written out before he got to the gate in his van

asking to sign was funny i think - as in sign language

"we have a deaf postman I had a recorded delivery and he knocked and asked me if I could sign just struck me funny . Why does a deaf postman strike you as funny?"

Its the use of the word 'sign' that is the key to the joke. It can be used to mean write your name or sign can be used to describe how people can communicate none verbally. The humour comes from confusing the two meanings of the word sign and not the postman.

I sent a few letters out last week , all were delivered back to me next day looks like the post office thought my return address was the delivery address lol .

I also reuse envelopes, when I get a check I fill out a paying in slip and reseal the envelope, then post it through bank door, .

Once I had one of these back as well obviously the bank thought it was mis delivered lol

The top right hand corner of all your mail states who delivered it, Royal Mail or TNT, and in response to an earlier post.....yes, if TNT can't deliver something the post them back in Royal Mail postboxes but they get charged for it

Titz Towers, North Notts

I quite often leave a couple of sweets out for my postie. I also get excellent service. The two may be linked.

Closer than you think

"which bit of your address do they go by ???? "

I've no idea, but as a Pontefract person with a confusing address I've had no end of trouble.
