Ive signed up for an activity day with my son. And we are going to do archery, assault course, canoe rafting and the worst ghyll scrambling (google it)

Well I have a total phobia of deep water. And like to be able to see the bottom and never go out of my depths...

I never knew what ghyll scrambling was untill today and aghhhhh. I dont wanna show myself up infront of my 11yr old son!

Im just gonna have to be brave!!!

Have you guys done anything adventurous x

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I trekked the Inca Trail for charity with a bunch of strangers - toughest thing I've ever done cos I'm a bit phobic about heights (well more the chance of a fall from height) and we had up to 1000 metre drops at the side of the trail...don't even get me started about almost falling down the fecking cliff whilst having a "wilderness wee" - I still get flashbacks

Fingers crossed I should be going camping in the wilds with some of my mentally debatable metalhead friends this summer for about a week.

Hope I don't wake up buried! Otherwise I'm going to have to use all their beer and a bar of soap to get the soil out of my awkward bits.

Bungee, Sky Dive, extreme downhill biking, white water rafting, river boarding (Google that bad boy!), muff diving, very dangerous quad biking with a nut job farmer in NZ, lots of other similar things too. I'm not bragging though...

I went black water rafting once, it was great fun.

You'd love it Loz, a great combination of being underground in the pitch black floating on deep water.

i would contact the people organising the event and ask about safety measures. I'm betting there are some in place and that might set your mind at ease re your phobia, and also re being in mummy mode and watching your sons safety on the day. good luck,

Check for a Youtube video as well. Seeing it with your own two eyes before you do it might take some fear out of the reality
