Most of the blocking is for shit and no valid reason , some people block ya and never everspoke to them at all ,

They should make you give a reason why you block the other person and tell the person why they been blocked ,

What you think ?

I block and never give the person a second thought....

why, they don't interest me.

and I am blissfully happy to be on the receiving end.

No I don't agree. People block single men because they don't want them to waste their time, some people block if they get a no thanks to stop from contacting peopel again, some just because they can. Its best to concentrate on teh ones who haven't blocked you and don't let things mess your head up

We block for many reasons.

If we dislike a personality.

If we dislike a message.

Or - quite often - if there's more chance of me growing tits and lady bits than us ever being attracted to/considering meeting someone.

Saves them the effort of putting together a message that will be ignored/result in a no thanks.

Blocking is just a permanent filter to us!

would it really do you any good to know someone has blocked you because they think your an arsehole? (not saying you are, just an example)

course it wouldnt.

so why bother worrying about it?

We block people we've not spoke to if we don't wanna be contacted by them. We block people who've winked/mailed/friend requested etc and they don't fit what we're looking for it feel we're not compatible for them.

Why should we give reasons. There is only one reason you block them..............you don't want to meet, contact or be contacted by that person/s

Simples really.

I only block when "sorry but no thanks" is ignored or I block if I receive abuse.

There is always a reason to block.

People who block me are genuinely not interested. Don't see any problem in that. Why would you want to waist all your efforts and time in someone who has no interest in chatting, let alone meeting you. So I agree with an earlier comment "blocking is a natural filter"

If you are blocked then grow some and move on.

My profile states the reason I block (though I'm mellowing in my dotage and mostly now just delete the messages where it's clear my profile's not been read)

If Fab give me a personal button that says "I'm blocking you cos you didn't read my profile. Happy swinging xxx" (That's 3 kisses, not 2 or 4...3 if you don't mind Admin) then I'll start to use it in future - be buggered if I'm back fitting that to the coupla hundred on my block list

No reason to justify why someone is blocked. They just are. People are free to run their profiles as they wish.

Personally I use the block as an extra filter. You can tell alot about people from forum posts and messages. If I don't like your attitude, you send friend requests, inundate me with messages etc etc you are blocked. I will never meet these people so saves wasting their time and mine. And yes I have a very big block list and no doubt I am on alot of peoples but that's just fine.

I tend to use the block to manage my contacts.

I get a message from a guy or couple etc, look at profile and decide they are not for me, so I send a polite thanks but no thanks then block.

The reason is simple if I don't block I find my inbox fills up with the same guys sending me the same thing every couple of weeks, it is worse if I change my avatar, it saves both of us wasting our time

It just strikes me that it might be useful to site admin to have a small checklist for a blocking that will not be puclicly available, ie person doesn't appeal. Will not take no for an answer, offensive, doesnr meet criteria, or other.

Might help out persistent offenders. Maybe have a week's ban from that ip address.

But on another thought, forum rules prevent anyone trying to contact someone who has banned them. So how does it work regarding people who ban all single guys?

I block to filter out people who don't interest me, for whatever reason. It saves them messaging me, and it filters them out of searches I do.

It's a tool to make fab easier to use and more useful and I use it as such.

It doesn't infer anything bad about the blocked individual, other than I am not interested in chatting to them or meeting them.

I know single guys complain that they rarely get messages, but would it really be an improvement to have an inbox full of "you're a minger/far too old/fattie, I mean who ate all the pies? You did/mwah ha ha ha hah you're really saying you're 37 when your pics clearly show you're older than my Dad/try throwing a vowel into your typing, cos textspeak is just gobbledygook/can't accom, can't travel, can only meet every other Thursday for 27 mins during your lunch break and you're sure you're not married from people to justify why they've blocked you.

Wouldn't help much if they are ugly/small et , but that's not what I'm. Thinking. People who get large amounts of blocks should at least be looked at to see if they are causing a nuisance. How many blocks? Not for me to say. That would be up to admin to decide.

Multiple accounts can often be spotted by coming from the same I P address. If mischief is suspected, it could backfire on the perps.

We don't usually block because people have done anything wrong though, we block as a filter because the profile does not suit us. I think the admin/mods would rather we report problem site users for investigation

Ooh!!! Just had a really random thought!!!

If - just hypothetically of course - someone had blocked a mod - would that grant them immunity from the naughty step?

A

No because thy can still see posts on forum when you blocked

But they wouldn't be able to get on your profile to inflict the punishment!!

They would send out their evil goblin friends

Either that , or .... You have discovered a master plan !!

"It just strikes me that it might be useful to site admin to have a small checklist for a blocking that will not be puclicly available, ie person doesn't appeal. Will not take no for an answer, offensive, doesnr meet criteria, or other.

Might help out persistent offenders. Maybe have a week's ban from that ip address.

But on another thought, forum rules prevent anyone trying to contact someone who has banned them. So how does it work regarding people who ban all single guys?"

I am not sure blocking people or being blocked is a good idea to ban people from the site as it is a tool that Admin give all of us to use as we wish.

If someone is being a pest/ abusive etc it is best to report the person and it can be dealt with that way.

The forum rules about blocking doesn't mean you can't answer someones posts on a forum in a discussion....(let's face it, not everyone will know they are blocked by someone unless they look at the profile) You just can't try and contact someone on the forum if they have you blocked, ie to ask them to unblock etc.
