just seen this on the news! that would have been a terrible tragedy but got me thinkin will britain be next for an attempted attack? i did say earlier that i thought the terror alert would go up as we get nearer the election.

we really do live in an unsafe world, and to leave that car in one of the busiest areas of new york is just unthinkable xx

I know... woke up this morning.. looked at my iphone, looked at the msnbc alert I got and thought "shit!!!!"

if that had gone off in the middle of times square... that could have hurt or killed hundreds....

before anyone lays the blame at certain groups... let me just say that there is a history of "internal" terrorism in the states.... and car bombs tend to fit that profile more than others......

Ahh the shell suit flight.

Single parents with 6 weans on tow with each wean with an ear stud in wearing Celtic strips. The mothers with their Ugg boots on and their hair spreaded tightly back into a ponytail, orange skin, heavy make up, blinged up and walk with their arms folded.

The guys with the Lacoste shell suits on or their Adidas jogging bottoms and hooded tops both in bright red with the obligatory hoops top underneath and wearing black velcro strapped trainers.

You will also find both ned and neddette pissed and reeking of Buckfast and they are rude and arrogant to everyone and they swear at their kids.

Once they get to their destination its 3/4 lengths and burnt skin and a holiday from hell for families and kids who have morals.

Now this clapping thing when the plane lands, is this a Glasgow/Scottish thing. Its been a debate with the mates and we were wondering if any other parts of the country do it?

I will admit i done it once as i was just going with the crowd but after it i was like WTF!

I was on a troop flight into Bosnia on a Hercy-bird, and we were all so happy to get down in one piece we cheered and clapped lol!!

Never flown on a "proper" civvy flight, but flew out of Bos as a soldier on a "civilian" airline.... we all clapped when we landed at Brize.

Guess its a compliment to the pilot, but I dont see people clapping taxi drivers and bus drivers when they get to the destination lol!

I hadnt heard of anyone clapping a pilot until after September 2001.

My family flew to Greece in the October and my mother called me from the airport in Corfu telling me about everyone clapping, in that instance I sort of understood why cos of the relief of getting where you wanted to go. But I still dont understand why clap for someone doing their job.

I mean you would say thanks to a taxi driver and anyone who helped you but giving them a round of applause??

Neither have I!!

That said I nearly clapped myself after taking an internal flight from Santiago de Cuba to Havana. My friend told me not to be alarmed when the cabin filled with "smoke".

Easier said than done, everyone else unconcerned but that was the longest hour of my life! I was so happy and relieved I wanted to shout, clap and whoop!

Clapping when the plane lands ? FFS I'd kiss the pilot's ass provided he got me down in one piece

I hate flying and am never comfy until I'm on the tarmac

I remember once i was flying back into Glasgow and just as the plane was ready to land at the last minute it ascended at full throttle resulting in everyone gasping in fear as it was totally unexpected. The plane was so near the runway before ascent that i could just about read the number plates on the cars in the Asda carpark in Linwood!!

It then circled round the area for a good 30 mins before it eventually landed. The pilot did apologies for the delay and for giving as all shitty breeks.

And needless to say most all cheered and clapped. I was just relieved the plane had stopped
