yes.

gave a teenaged girl a lift from telford to stoke, as she had missed the last train and was walking down the side of a road with a suitcase after 11 at night.

wouldnt have forgiven myself had anything happened to her and i just drove past

Yes. A young Scandinavian couple. Gave them a 50 mile lift as I was heading home from work one evening and dropped them off at the YMCA. They couldn't get a room and ended up staying the night at mine. They were very nice, very polite.

I pick up a young girl this mornin and we chatted and a ask her y she hitched u could get a sex mad man that could do anything or an axe murder and she said she wouldn't mind the sex mad man lol so have arranged to pick her up at the same spot Tomoz I'm thinking it could be a set up

i gave a lift to a woman i saw hitching once. she didn't say much. i tried to spark up a conversation by asking what she did with her time and she said she was a witch. when i told her her i didn't believe her she put her hand on the inside of my thigh and i turned into a lay-by

The other winter when we had a blizzard. I saw this old boy walking down Nottingham road, out in the sticks, about 3 miles from anywhere. It was minus 4, pretty shitty out and I was on my way home from work, so I picked him up and dropped him on his doorstep a fair few miles from mine. Nice guy he was, too. He'd been out to check on a chum of his he'd been worried about.

I used to Hitch' everywhere and so did lots of others,most Motorway approaches had a que of people at busy times and all the signs had graffiti on the back,with waiting times, destinations and a few choice words thrown in by long stayers! If you chose the right junctions and times it was possible to do the journey in more or less the same time s driving it and predict your E.T.A.never had any problems and met some nice people.No surprise that I give lifts now..

I allways make single girls sit in the back as i dont want them to start making accusations. a mate went through hell as he turned a girl down and she said sme realy bad things to the cops. luckily she'd done this before.

but i do pick them up especially if its raining

I picked one up at Woodall Services 2 weeks ago she was on her way from London to Ireland. When we got on the M62 she told me she was a "working girl" it shocked me a bit first off but after a while we got chatting I said I'd have to drop her off at birch services. She asked me "have you ever been with a working girl?" I said "no it wasn't my thing" so she asked if I could just give her a few quid to get a drink. I bought her a coffee and she went on her way. Oh but she ate my bloody mini eggs lol

I spent years hitching around the UK, Europe, the middle east and Africa - my boots were my car and my home was my rucksack for many years. In those days, the good people I met far outnumbered the bad and I never forgot it.

Now, when I see a fellow friend of the road, I always stop to give them a lift, a helping hand and maybe cook them a meal if I can ... it's a part of the karma.

i guess the fact that you were a hitcher you'll be familiar with the doors song, stoned immaculate .... myself and a friend were at carlisle services for about 8 hrs at night time trying to head north to oban. the place was dead .... a graffitti on the back of the "thankyou for visiting" sign said, "out here in the perimeter there are no cars"

Everytime I go round my mum and dads the story of the latest Hitch Hiker that my mum felt sorry for that she's picked up.

Drives my dad nuts.

She's gonna get mugged one day. That's an awful thing to say I know.

I dont really thinks it is any more dangerous than it used to be. Too much media hype that people have allowed themselves, like sheep, to have their minds herded to. Ive picked up hitchers and had fun along the way. Id hate to be stranded so share my good fortune. There are sites now where you can post your journeys, and just accept small donations, if you want. It keeps your insurance valid, as youre not doing it for gain. We need to share more goodwill and rebuild our communities back up.
