A Secret Hideaway In the caravan of love

Today in the supermarket I noticed how cheap a box of 24 larger is and made me wonder, if this makes people stay at home.

Our kids will go to a Friends house, for the first hour or two drinking, then move on to a pub or restaurant.

It saves some brass and they have a good time as well.

Yeah I prefer to drink indoors with a few pals. Saves a lot of money and the pubs are shite round here anyway. The good old fashioned pub seems to be a thing of the past these days.

Yes tend to crack open a bottle of wine rather than go to the pub these days.

not that its easier, its just cheaper.

£30 on booze and invite a few pals round

or

sit in a pub, taxi home, bad food while waiting for said taxi, you are probably looking at easily £100 for a night out

You can get 8 cans for £6.99. which is about the price of 2 pints in most pubs. Plus you don't have any idiots, gym wankers, posers. Unless you're mates with some

You can also choose to listen to decent music. Not some shit playlist someone made "to cater for everyone"

in the night garden

I think generally this is where society is going. Due to the chasm in price from pub to super market. Just look at all the local pubs shutting down.

Even the young ones 'front-load' which is the act of getting shit faced in the house before going out then just drinking water/soft drinks whilst out.

Hinckley

6 bottles of half-decent wine and 50 cans of beer from Asda = £40

A taxi from our house to Leicester = £40

Not a difficult decision, plus the aforementioned bonuses of people we want to be with, music we want to listen to and no taxi home.

i've seen myself spending between £100 and £200 on a night, but that was when i was young, daft and cash rich.

not to mention having friends with expensive tastes.

I love going out and drinking socially but that's an expensive treat. Bottle of wine at home lasts two nights. £6

£100 could do me for a few nights easily.

If I was staying in, it could do me for about 2 weeks.

I agree it's not difficult to spend close to £100 on a night out. By the time we pay for a cab/ return train tickets and buy a couple rounds of drinks.

Ok, if you have to go on a train to go for a pint, maybe you should consider moving closer to the pub

Having been a bar manager for 15 years I can honestly say would prefer to have a few friends round. Prices in pubs are extortionate now.

Glad I got out of it 8 years ago as noticed a decline back in 2006. xx

I don't drink at home, but Kate does. We're lucky in that we have a lovely local pub in our village, only 50yds from our house.

The beer I drink is £3.20 a pint but I rarely have more than three pints so the cost isn't a consideration for me.

I don't like canned beer. Some bottled beer is ok though

I stay in and drink at home a lot more than I used too but do still like to go out and socialise but after meeting friends In a pub at the weekend and paying nearly £4.50 for a pint I might have to reconsider and become a hermit.

that just reminded me of when a load of us shipping cadets went on a drinking strike in Liverpool when the local pub put the price of Double Diamond up to 3/6d (18p) we lasted 4 days and it came back down to the old price

I/We pretty much gave up going to the pub when the smoking ban came in. I don't drink at home so the smoking ban has saved me loads on booze
