I was reading all the birthday wishes from friends on fb when a chat popped up from someone from my past who I had started talking to again recently, he was actually " my first" and had treated me like crap.he asked if he could call me and he did..He apologised for all he did, that his intentions at the time were not genuine and wanted to tell me how sorry he was for having done what he did...he is a dad with 2 daughters now and he said he was disgusted with himself, as he imagined how he would feel if anyone treated his girls the way he had treated me...I was absolutely gobsmacked..lol we ended up chatting for over an hour..was so bizarre!

Wow that was brave of him and well done you for being strong enough and open minded enough to allow him to do it too.

Must have taken guts on both sides, him for contacting you and you for giving him the chance to ask forgiveness. Hope that this has put a ghost to rest for you xx

Big kahoonas

Let's just hope he was being sincere !

That said, I am sure you have grown in the intervening years too and could put a stop to any crap should he try and le his way back in.

Sorry. Ever the cynic here.

It has lifted a weight that has been holding me down all these years...he was my first anything, (bf/kiss/sex)and the way he had treated me tainted a bit of me that was always stuck in the back of my mind and heart when it came to any future relationships. He was close to tears when I opened up and told him just how it had impacted my life all those years ago. Was the best birthday present that I got yesterday

O o O oo

It just shows most people grow up and realise that actions have probably impacted hard on others.

The growing up normally coincides with having kids, as you get so protetive of them. He sounds like he is thinking totally different now....unless of course it is a ploy to get into your knickers

lol..I do see it as absolutely genuine and he is very much a changed man. I doubt he is trying to get in my knickers as my knickers are currently about 3200 miles away on a different continent from him. And he was openly talking about it all with his OH next to him on the sofa...

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I'm a bitchy old cynic so something like that would make me wonder what their motives were.

My ex sent me a 'love always' message through fb. I didn't even know he was on there but blocked him quick sharp. Turned out he was on the brink of divorce, the conniving git.

He was motivated by the fact that his mum and I shared a birthday(she also passed away on her birthday 20 years ago) and he was thinking about her and about his life...about how he wanted to do her proud as a father and not be the person he was back then. It has taken him 21 years to do it, but I do see it as a genuine act and totally respect him for it

As we go through life we often come across times and occasions when 'it takes two'.

Sadly however, it's not unusual for one of the two to deny or opt out. So all credit to this two for being brave, honest, and open.
