I could never get my mum what she deserved for mothers day. This being down to enforced euthanasia being illegal....

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'll be in Sheffield next weekend for the social so if someone nice could remind me so I don't get charged for staying in Travelodge past midday. My Mum has made alternative plans for Mothering Sunday so she won't mind my not being there.

I'm spending it at a memorial service with the rest of the family. So mum and her mum will be there too. Thinking of a great family friend that died abroad. We will be laying flowers at a tree planting. Rather than giving them

We only ever buy a small token gift and a card. I find Mothers (and Fathers day) to be a commerical rip off if I'm honest.

Yes I'm a miserable buggar.

My mum knows how much I love her and that I'm thankful for all she does. I tell her all the time....

No nor me. I'll light a candle for mine, pop to visit her grave & have a little chat with her. Then I'll put my smile back on and get taken out for lunch I expect .

Ditto mate feel for you my mum died when I was 19 , would chop a limb off if it meant seeing her one last time.

So not for the want of starting a debate but to all you buggers who don't get on with their parents all I say is that one day you may have wished you did. Yes every situation is different and some mothers may not be desirable but it's still your mother and the only one you are ever gonna get.

Lucky for me my mother was truly lovely an amazing person and my best friend. unfortunately for me I was young immature and stupid and said things I will always regret because she was gone before I was old and mature enough to realise how stupid I had been and apologise .

As you say, every situation is different. I don't see why I should feel bad for not worshipping my mother after what she did to us as children.

my mums mum was awful to my mum as she was growing up (nowdays she would have been in jail ) but luckily my mum did not inherit any of her traits
