"if you thought your kids wouldnt be ridiculed for having stupid names, what would you love to name them? i would love to give my kids, or even have myself, names like those off LotR. borimir aragorn isildor and the like i think these names are absolute class" you could call yourself any of them if you wanted to. I would have liked to call our daughter Portia but we knew too many people would think it was Porsche.

"You're all bonkers. These poor children just want to be called Jack, Bob, Clare or Sophie. We can't go naming them after our favourite TV characters or the places they were conceived. It's very important for children to fit in, there's enough worry about the first day at school without the fear of the piss being ripped out of you for having a daft name. " I totally agree with you on this, anyway I'm off to maccy d with my boys Butthead and Beavis

I think the fashion for name is cyclic, so at some point the Keiths, Kevins, Deborahs, Tracey and Sharons will be fashionable again. Steve, is of course, a timeless and elegant name. "I have a child I work with who is indeed called Aragon. He gets laughed at all the time it's awful. Iovd names that are a bit different and my daughter has an unusual name and she lines it cos she's the only one in the whole school but it is nice and not completely weird. " That has never happened at my nephews' schools. We're in such a multi-ethnic area that kids don't pick on each other for having unusual names.
