little house on the praire

For those that have never suffered insomina this is hard to explain. I slept a full night last night. I know its early now but I think i slept from around 11pm till now. Its absolutly blissful. Now i dont drink wine, never have but i had a bottle of red wine last night. No hangover no nothing just had a damn good nights sleep. However, im not going to resort to this, but quite ironic that now being diagnosed wit slee apnia and awaiting my appointment i actually have started sleeping lol.

.

Thats great news, it's a bugger when you can't sleep.

I'm no expert but perhaps the diagnosis has calmed you helping you sleep.

Long may it continue

well done you

have suffered from lack of sleep for some years. Used to sleep like a log until I injured my back so think the pain is the reason rather than insomnia...but usually count myself lucky if I get 5 hours.

red wine definitely helps, but I am not a big drinker so usually have a glass of wine every month or so and the full night's sleep is indescribably fantastic

hope your appt leads to some solutions

I have suffered from it in the past, in my case an 85% of most others it's caused by anxiety. Some times you may feel tire during the day but as soon as night falls and your off to bed, you annoyingly wake up!

I tried 2 remedies, I got Anti-depressants/anxiety medicine off my Doctor and got a sleep relaxation CD, after a couple of months I'm sleeping normally again!

Hope you get it sorted

I'm very lucky in that I can go to sleep anywhere, anytime usually.

Quite often we can go to bed at the same time, and I will be snoring my box off, before Kate's finished in the loo

Sitting on a laptop doesn't help sleeping.

30 mins before bedtime i log off and get my body relaxed for the night ahead.

Also i have been getting some weird dreams recently. The latest one was me being strangled and i couldn't move and was trying to fight it off. I was losing consciousness and could feel myself struggling for breathe and thought i was a goner. Somehow i managed to wake myself up and i could feel my neck had been pressured or pressed and i was breathing heavily. It took a while for me to get back to sleep as i was terrified.

What scares me is that i live on my own and i have heard of story's of young men dying in their sleep possibly due to similar what i have been getting

When I was pregnant with my youngest I gained a huge set of boobs and the pressure meant I couldnt sleep on my back, and the bump meant I couldnt sleep on my front. What I did was half prop myself up with double the amount of pillows (in my case 6) so I was in a half sitting position and if I woke up during the night I rolled onto my side, still propped up on extra pillows. It relieved the pressure on my chest and eased my breathing.

Might help Peaches hun.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea over 2 years ago. Before that I would fall asleep at all times of the day because I was not getting proper sleep at night. I was in hospital for something else when they discovered I was having standstills with my heart because I was stopping breathing in my sleep, which causes the heart rate to go down but mine was actually stopping for up to 10 seconds at a time. I had a pacemaker fitted so if my heart rate dropped too far the pacemaker would kick in and regulate my heartbeat. I was also given a c pap machine which blows air, through a mask, into my mouth and nose to keep me breathing through the night. It was really awkward at first but I soon got used to it and now I have good restful sleeps and I never fall asleep through the day. So if you get a c pap machine persevere with it and you will feel better for using it

"now being diagnosed wit slee apnia"

No disrespect Karen, but having a clear mind does help, however, if you're the sort of person who is unable to switch off your mind, suffering with sleep apnea is no surprise
