That was weird, my status says I am going to the Chester social this evening, just a statement is all. I have had a couple of mails since i posted it from blokes I have had no contact with ever saying sorry they can't make it tonight. Am I missing something? Seriously? Or are they like those people who think that soap characters are talking to them personally?

Maybe they too were meaning the social?

Also your status asks whos going so it's a question not a statement... I guess that's exactly what they are relying to

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Or it could be they're pushing their luck. Bit like the guys you have said no thanks to a year ago but then message with 'hi long time since we spoke' as if you had some kind of connection with them.

I being too cynical?

So I am missing something then? That's why I asked. Assumed a status was just that, how I'm feeling etc. thought meets were posted in the meets section. You know it has never occurred to me to answer personally any of the statuses that come up on my newsfeed because I assumed they were just broadcasting to the ether. So when someone posts "who wants to suck my fat cock." It is only courteous that I should send them a mail?

If someone had mailed you saying " I saw your question on your status...I am going to the chester social too " would that have been ok?

I thinks its pretty common to get messages responding to status's on here, sometimes I reply and sometimes I don't

Some people see it as a conversation starter, its not peculiar behaviour

Although in this case it could be guys just using it as an opportunity to message you. It maybe in the hope that it will start a conversation. Not necessarily an effective tactic in this instance but a possibility.

"If someone had mailed you saying " I saw your question on your status...I am going to the chester social too " would that have been ok?"

Probably yes because they are expressing something they have in common with me, they are going too. It was the phrasing as if I had sent them a personal message asking if they in particular were going and that they should let me know if they weren't so that I wasn't disappointed when they didn't turn up.

Made me think in general about statuses. If they ask a question, e.g. Who wants to suck their cock then we should only reply to them if in the affirmative? No point in getting hundreds of emails saying no thanks. But presumably if someone sees status and thinks they fancy some of the then there is a good reason to mail and and say "hell, yeah".

Hmmmmm shall be more careful what I post in future

I have sent a few messages purely due to someone's status update. Some I have spoken to previously but not always.

Why post a question in your status then complain when it is answered? I'm obviously missing something.

In the interest of science, I'll change mine to say the same thing and report back in 10 minutes with the results.

We respond to status updates quite a bit and get messages in direct respond to our status.

Can be quite amusing when OH has updated status and I've not notice and messages come through relating to it.

Not a biggie or necessarily people chancing their arm, just how a lot of us communicate.

That's why I asked the question. Being fairly new I didn't know what importance was attached to a status. Never had much response before to statuses but then is usually boring stuff like what should I have for lunch and bugger me, my arse is itchy today, neither of which are big crowd pullers.

Good, a man should appreciate good nipple etiquette. Don't want to make one of my tits angry.

Yes I get what you mean now....the men who mailed you were probably just using your status as an opportunity to get into your mailbox.
