Over the rainbow, under the bridge

My grandmother always said that you should always try to learn something new everyday.

Today I learned that St Patrick is not only the patron saint of Ireland, but of Nigeria too!

What have you learned today?

Somewhere in North Norfolk

That the 1TB WD SATA HDD I'm installing into a computer doesn't work properly when managed by the RAID BIOS.

That is in English, honestly!

I think I understood about 50% of that! I have a 1TB WD external hard drive but that's about as much as I know. I plug it in and use it to back up important files.

I couldn't install Windows on to it without changing a setting in the BIOS basically. Not a big deal.

Mine must be already set up with it as I can open Windows files in it. But, honestly, I am clueless about such things.

you would have had to change the raid bios as its only one drive a raid needs at least 2 drives to work

Why were you trying to use RAID on a single drive?

"Why were you trying to use RAID on a single drive? "

I wasn't. The BIOS has an auto-detect option for RAID which is the factory default setting. It was fine with the previous (single) drive, detecting fine that it was a single drive. It wasn't fine with the new drive. I had to turn the "work it out for yourself" option off and be more specific.

Two things:

More than I wanted.to know about a male friends wound in a very personal place after surgery, including discussions about pus, infection and packing.

And don't believe the internet when it tells you that a particular shop has something in stock. Call before you drive out there to buy said item only to be told they don't stock it.
