in the night garden

Have you turned it on then off again?

If so you might want to try that the other way round.

a straightjacket

Thats what happens when you get a car lead for your rampant rabbit or wand, it drains the car battery....less playing in the car with the engine off

Manchester

Im sure its just been a coincidence but iv had a spate of flat batry call out this wk aanhalf of them haven't been a flat batry its been the starter motor tightening up whitch can give the same simptom. If your have no joy with a booster pack then id suspect the starter.

I just had it serviced so I do think it was the batt- it's started now! 3rd time lucky. Electrics aren't quite right though.

"Its very important to make sure you get a complete service "

A dying battery can have some hilarious side effects, my old Alfa was apparently doing 160mph while idling on my drive, the Windows also had a mind if their own!

If you suspect the starter motor is sticking then put the car in gear. Handbrake off and get out and rock the car. Get back in and try starting it again (don't forget to put it in neutral first though), this could UN-stick it enough to start it.

Thanks. Turns out it was a couple of fuses making everything go a bit haywire.
