Someone just tried to scam £187 out of my PayPal!

Luckily I checked my emails and managed to cancel the transaction before it went to my bank..

Gotta change all my passwords now!

Yes It was. And only took me logging into my account to see the transaction on the recent activity.

Just been on the phone to them too.

I had a blatent fake PayPal email a couple of days ago, it was so bad it was laughable!

Because they find out your email and password and see emails from PayPal so they know you have an account so they log in and send themselves a payment from your account to theirs!

Great Wyrley

Similar happened to me a couple of years ago.

the money was paid to a website in ireland.

just as the payment email came through as I was sat at the computer the landline rang. It was paypal ringing to tell me they had blocked my payment to a suspicious site.

up to that point I was unsure of paypal. When I saw first hand how quick they reacted they instilled my confidence.

as it was, I managed to track down the details of the website persons. Strangely enough when they got personal emails off me they were unimpressed I was able to find out who they were ha ha.

its the internet. Anything is possible

I had a laughable one, pretending to be my bank, insisting I enter all my details for security reasons. What's scary, is the fact that some people fall for this.

I had a message supposedly from Paypal asking me to follow a link and to verify my password.

Yeah right.

Paypal is secure. They would not ask you to go to their site via a link from an email.

We had our AOL email hacked, don't know how but they did. Living in France we transfer cash from UK & loads of internet banking. They managed to get 2x£1.60 payments & £49.95 payment! All retrieved, but now very wary. We changed ALL passwords, and do so each month! Also include in the pw a &%?@ symbol which makes it harder to crack. Hope this helps.

My Debit Card was cloned a few years back and they set up a standing order from my current account for £39.99 a month.

They took nearly £800 before I spotted it.

I'm embarrassed that I didn't miss this money going out every month.

I'm careful now where I use my cards

I was ripped off by a customer via paypal so no longer use it.

They paid £170 for an item, the item was made and then hand delivered to them (I had withdrawn the money by this point), by the time I got back home I had emails saying the buyer had reported it as a fraudulent transaction, I spent a month protesting it and then they took all the money from my bank and gave it to the buyer. I even sent them emails between me and the customer about delivering it etc but they sided with the buyer.

So I was £170 out of pocket plus the fuel for the 220 mile round trip to deliver it and my time.

Never again will I use paypal.

A friend of mine sold a baby monitor on eBay, payment by PayPal, then the buyer got photos of a dodgy old baby monitor and complained that it was the one she had been sent! She ended up

With a refund and never sent the monitor back!

So apparently it wasn't as cancelled as I was told. The instruction had already gone through to my bank so I've just had my tesco shop cancelled due to insufficient funds checked my online bank and I've got £6 in there.

Rang PayPal and they said even though I stopped the guy from getting it it was too late to stop the direct debit from my bank (unless I had cancelled it at the bank end which I would of done if someone had told me that was the case!) so now I've gotta wait for then to reverse it which could take a few days!!

And to add insult to injury netflix sent me an email to go back to them and enjoy another free month so I did. And they've charged me the £5.99!! Just got off the phone to them and they said that I should never of gotten that email and they don't know how it was sent out.

I said I don't give a toss just refund me my 5.99!!!

Anyway I've got 7p in my purse if anyone wants it gimme a shout apparently I'm not meant to have any money!

Apparently it's email hackers, they get into your email and know your email password, then they see emails from paypal and just try to login to your paypal using the same password. Then they send money from your PayPal to theirs and presto!

You shouldn't ever have a problem if you use a totally different email for your paypal to anything else which I always did then I set up a new email addy a while back and used the same one without thinking about it. Needless to say it's been changed now x

I'm an eBay junkie.

But as far as PayPal were aware I was just logging into my account and making a payment, because they'd logged in using my email and password it just looked like an ordinary transaction.

Just checked the resolution centre and it says they've contacted the recipient with details of the transaction for more information and if it gets found in my favour I will get my money back. At some point!! If it doesn't get found in my favour I will be closing my paypal account down!!

Yes they should of!! But no one did had I known that I would of just contacted my bank straight away and they would never of been able to take the payment!!! My head is pounding from the stress!
