Omg so nervous but no idea why..

I'm the same, my landlords are ace and a really nice couple but I still worry it's natural as you feel it's you they are inspecting as opposed to the property.

Relax and have a cuppa and if you have one put some fresh ground coffee on to brew the smell is magic walking url a place better than any air freshener, very welcoming, good luck x

I hated those. A total stranger in my personal space bothered me a lot.

I'd never allow one without being present and even then I hated it.

There was never a problem because I was always clean and tidy. That wasn't the issue. It always felt like an intrusion into my private life.

That's not good myself and my landlords always agree a time convenient for us both.

Infact they bend around my commitments.

It is after all your home even if they do own it.

We have a walk about and then sit and have a cuppa and a catch up and that's when we decide on any work needed on the house and they ask if I'm happy and is there anything they can do to improve their service to me.

I may just have very good landlords

It sounds like it. I've mostly rented via agencies before and they were out to criticise and not at all interested in anything that needed doing.

On one occasion the agent couldn't find fault with anything. But she'd left the door open and some leaves had blown in so she put that the living room needed vacuuming and the hearth needed sweeping, (both had been clean beforehand)!

They never, not once, wrote anything positive. If they couldn't find fault, the condition was "satisfactory". Never was it noted that I took really good care of the places I rented and they were usually immaculate.

I've never left a rented property in worse condition than when I moved in. In fact, I think they were all significantly cleaner.

Certainly I've never left anywhere with grease that could be scraped from the kitchen tiles in great lumps, grease dripping out of an extractor hood filter that was degrading and hanging through the filter holes in strands or hair stuck to the bathroom tiles and clumped in the sink and bath plug holes!

Not that an agent or landlord has ever acknowledged it or, heaven forfend, thanked me.

I hate renting!

The letting agents come & inspect our house whilst we're not here. We both work, it's not like we have much choice. We can't take random time off every 3 months and i'm buggered if we're using our precious holiday time to be in whilst they come round.

Your place doesn't have to be tidy or even clean. As long as it's in the same state when you leave as it was when you moved in, you can pretty much do what you want with it in the meantime and they can't say anything.

Having said that, we always clean & tidy round beforehand (except last week we were in the process of clearing the spare room out & building furniture so was a bit of a mess & I emailed them to apologise)

As a Landlord the main concern is that Tenants are not using the property for growing cannabis. Other concerns are damaging the property through breaking things & excessively soiling the carpet because that will cost money when the Tenant moves out.

As for keeping the place immaculate, if a letting agent complains it isn't, tell them where to go! Tenants are entitled to live as they please so long as it doesn't damage property or upset neighbours.

The vast majority of Agents are useless & I wouldn't use them.

I know its not the same exactly, but I've hated it when selling a house and having people around to look. It is uncomfortable even if you know your home is in good condition

We have an inspection every three months and usually its when we are out at work. The same person inspects every time and is really lovely. He rings me to tell me how nice we keep it.

At first I would go over the top with presentation...it was like a show house. Lol! But now I don't worry as its always clean and tidy.

As long as he doesn't open the cupboards he'll be fine....

Nah my landladys ace.. i trust her.. Only had 2 inspections in 3 years so cant complain

Well, I've found it best to keep one for emergencies. You never know when it will come in useful and it's a real bind if you get caught short.
