So I have been chatting to this real lovely lady several weeks, we agree a possible meet and on the day she pulls out citing illness as the reason. Problem is on the morning in question her status is raving about an amazing meet the night before which mysteriously disappears prior to her message to me cancelling.

Would you raise it with them or let it slide bearing in mind that people will meet who they will and that you might come across as whinging

She can cancel for whatever reason she wants to. At least she told you and didn't simply not turn up.

Let it go.

Perhaps she had a good meet the night before but picked up a tummy bug or something. She may actually have been ill.

is it possible the status was a day or two old?

frankly, it's entirely possible she was ill or it's possible she was worn out. either way.... are you ever likely to believe you know the truth whatever you are told about the situation? may be best to just move on.

just let it slide but don't bother chatting to them again. People can cancel when they like but you obviously didn't feel comfortable.

Even for a genuine reason I doubt I would ask to meet again. Id be wondering whether theyd cancel again and as this is only a hobby then I dont need that doubt there

No we would just move on and forget it.

Least she took the time to message you and cancel, she could just not have turned up!

Maybe she is unwell but if we have any no doubts at all, then that's usually it. No more contact...

I would just leave it,genuine or not if you call her out about it its going to probably send her into a defensive huff which will get you nowhere and if you re arrange you'll always be thinking she may cancel again which is stress no one needs when its meant to be fun

Let it go. At least she informed you and if it was a fib it was a face saving one. Wish her well and see if she chases up to reschedule.

ive had that situation, had a great meet the day before, was all set for the next meet. and then my kid got sick and had to stay at home.

A guy let me down for a foursome one night saying he had a 'lung infection'. Had been planned for weeks and he let me know after he was supposed to have arrived. Later a veri went up from a couple for the same night. I never mentioned it, just didn't bother with him again. People are free to meet who and when they like but it is annoying when they leave you without time to rearrange plans. At least she let you know in plenty of time rather than just not turn up I suppose
