"Having lots of probs with lappy it's slow not responding, my norton has run out do you think that's what's causing it ?" Could be a number of things but Norton is reknowned for slowing PC's down regardless of whether its run out or not ! My advice is totally uninstall it and install MS security essentials for now. Also try using Ccleaner ( free ) and clear your internet history and do a registry clean that should pick your speed up a bit

"Ok thanks do you have a link please ? And is ms free ?" Security essentials is free from microsoft just google it Same with Ccleaner buddy, dead easy to install and run One thing though make sure you fully uninstall Norton as it has a habit of leaving left over registry entries which can cause probs, Ccleaner should clean them out though

"i think my lappy is dying. it's very slow, needs restarting often, i e often crashes on certain websites, and occassionally makes a small grrrrr-ing sound. " Sounds like it needs a good clean out ! Possibly the fan making the noise due to build up of dust etc, IE crashing is standard lol, install chrome or firefox browser and see if same thing happens. Would suggest you take it to a local repair person and have it serviced as dust build up means its getting to hot ( hence needing to shut down ) Its wise to do this asap as micro cracks can appear in the solder and will eventually kill the laptop.

"Misskinkyboots download the above programme, I will PM you my key to activate the PRO version plus full instructions, you will notice the difference immediately " No offence pal but Advanced system care wont do anything, this program along with tuneup utilities etc are all rubbish in my opinion and cause more problems than they solve. MissKinkyboots, as far as the advertising is concerned it sounds to me like some malware or spyware has got on and has installed itself inside your browser, fairly straight forward to remove though Depending on your browser you need to go to settings and look for extensions or add ons, look for any suspicious ones like adware etc and disable and then delete them. You will then need to reset your homepage etc back to chrome and ensure that any other homepage links are removed. If you want to PM me for any other help please feel free and ill guide you through the system probs too

"the sound has gone on my Acer. Mostly because is a cleaning up, making it go faster spree I deleted it. There was realtech and another one. I cant remember what the other one was but now I have no sound, even thought the other one says it is working properly. Any help would be great" If it is the drivers that have gone you can go to the acer website to reinstall them.

"it will be the 32bit as it's an old lappy. Cheers" Ok as far as i can see you need two drivers ( broadcom and realtek ) I would suggest going to device manager ( start button , right click on computer, click properties and then in next window click device manager ) The find your audio device expand it and right click and update drivers that should install the correct drivers for you

"Read disc error message on pc ... .. any help please ... oh and idiots guide please ... lol ... " Oooh thats not good lol !! You need to run a disk check Switch of PC Switch on and press F8 repeatedly until a screen appears with options. Hit start in safe mode with command prompt. In the command prompt window type " chkdsk " without the speech marks lol you will then need to restart the pc and a disk check will be done before it starts up, if possible it will fix the errors if not your hard drive is shot im afraid lol

Security essentials does have issues, if you ar erunning non genuine microsoft software and sometimes even if you are it will cause issues, you will also need to have all your microsoft updates

" Sounds to me like the shop you got it from have not done a clean install and left over drivers or registry entries are causing conflicts in the config and start up loads. As previous poster said a full clean install maybe the way forward, but back up as much of your files ( docs, pics etc ) to an external drive first. As i said in pm happy to pop up and take a look at both if you like just let me know Jamie

"If it's a software issue then sometimes the best thing to do is save everything you can and then wipe the entire machine and start again with a clean version of windows. It can be a pain reinstalling everything, especially if you have to dig out product keys, licences etc, but long term that's the way to go. I suspect the shop might just fo this first, so as I said earlier, make copies of everything. " Its under guarantee so they can do it but yes will make copies of everything first
