Can anyone recommend a good smoth whiskey ? its for a gift and as i dont drink it i dont have a clue..

All i know is...it has to be "smooth"

You'll want a 10 year old single malt then. Talisker and Glenmorangie are my two favourites. They're not too expensive, about £30 for a bottle.

As there is a "e" in your whiskey,I recommend black Bush,distilled in bushmills co.antrim.

Or if something less expensive,jamesons whiskey

Irish whiskey is spelt with the e

Scotch whisky has no e

Jura 'Origin' is a great Whisky, I could go on forever. If 'The Whisky Shop' is near you I'd drop in there.

When I can afford it, Islay 12 YO single malt is my whisky of choice. Laphroaig 10 YO is a close second, both about £30.

Yep me too, but I wouldn't describe either as smooth

For smoothness go for a Speyside or a Lowland malt.

Try a Dalwhinnie

surprisingly, before we sold our pub, we had 40 different malts on sale, and far and away the best seller was a japenese one called Yamazaki, brewed in the style of a speyside malt,

most the hardened whisky drinkers said it was one of the smoothest they had tried

If price is an issue, most supermarkets stock good Scottish whiskies in 35 cl bottles at under your limit.

As with most things alcoholic tastes will vary, what do they normally drink,?

Try ( Google) the whisky flavour map it lists many Scottish single malts from Light and delicate say something like Glenkinchie to rich and smoky like laguvulin

Don t discount blends some of those are lovely, my personal choice and probably a cheapish choice bushmills original, if you want to apend a bit more try bushmills 10 yr old single malt,

I recommend Laphroaig or Aberlour, both of them single malts, and you should be able to get a 70cl bottle for about £25 - £30.

any of the 11 islay distilleries .... the smoothest whiskeys made. google islay distilleries and the site at the top of the list will give you the full low down on all of them. the big supermarkets do there own label islay single malts and they're very good and a very good prices too.

Hi there get one without an 'E' whisky and if your looking for something fairly cheap but very smooth I would try monkey shoulder theyre doing it for under £30 in Tesco and its a lovely dram ! T x

agree totally. also worth considering is a dalwhinnie. very very nice.

Also cragganmore is pleasant.

No disrespect , but neither Laphroaig or Talisker are what most people would consider smooth . Wonderful character full smoked peat yes but rather an acquired taste

Jura, yes , the Glen livet, Dalwhinnie , 15 year Bowmore but not the 12 , value for money Irish whiskey such as jameson, black bush is sweet And back To Scottish Single ..Just Reminded Myself Of

Speyburn ,smooth xxx
