does your job define you?

see loads of profile names referring to people jobs on here, or getting messages that mention it in the first line (especially if it happens to be one of the uniformed services)

do you feel you are your job, or do you find people that feel the need to mention it somewhat annoying.

early thursday minirant lol

Only two people on this site know what my exact job is. Anyone else asks and the get told I'm a secretary, which is partly true anyway. I'm not here to talk about work.

actually sometimes it can annoy me when people ask on here if i have no connection to them but sometimes i'm happy to volunteer the information but no i do not think it defines me as i do 3 completely different things yet in a way there are sort of links to bring them together in ways

It becomes a bit of a flirty joke on here but nothing more than that, its just a job and no it doesn't define me,I don't bring my work home or take it out to play

I don't mention mine or Donna's jobs on here, if asked when meeting people we will say but other than that I've never thought it relevant for others to know

I have two jobs....I like both my jobs but feel one is a lot more 'me' than the other but I'm not defined by it, no more than I'm defined by any other part of my life really. I'm me, a total of all my life and experience not just of how I earn my money.

I will quite happily mention exactly what I do should it arise but don't especially mention it up front....I never feel the need to keep any one part of my life separate to another as its all part of me. I am who I am with everyone these days and if folk don't like what I do then its their issue really.

What you see is what you get

Though I love my job with passion, I wouldn't say it defines me. People who mention what they do isn't a problem for us, It's when we're faced with someone who can only talk about their "professional Job" and lack intriguing conversation.

I may mention it if it comes up in conversation, but I do try to leave work at work and home at home.

"I may mention it if it comes up in conversation, but I do try to leave work at work and home at home. "

What about when you're on the journey to or from work ? Where do you leave that ?

Not necessarily define, but it's a huge part of my life, which I am so beyond passionate about, so it certainly adds to who I am.. I'm just extremely lucky I've been able to make a passion, pay my bills... haha

"Only two people on this site know what my exact job is. Anyone else asks and the get told I'm a secretary, which is partly true anyway. I'm not here to talk about work."

Some years ago I was introduced to a rather glamorous lady at a social (non-swinging) event.

I picked up that she was a secretary. Only later did I discover she was a Secretary of State.
