Why do people say they are going to attend a social, then not turn up?

We held a social last night, great people turned up and we had a fabulous time. So many people missed out!!!

It's manners to let people know. We go to the trouble of catering (food wise) and end up throwing it away.

Ah I thought you meant like a pub social. Yes they should let you know, that's really rude not to. I certainly wouldn't invite them again.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

People fail to realise that they should be equally polite even to strangers.

In a way they did you a favour as, if they are that impolite, you really wouldn't want them in your home.

It was a social in a pub - our pub. We're working through the list now.

We had a fabulous time thanks, really nice people turned up.
